This is the official trailer for the film released in 2022 entitled 'Squaring the Circle: The Story of Hipgnosis by Anton Corbijn.
Legal clearances were undertaken by Sheridans solicitors the boutique london law firm who have acted for Aubrey 'Po' Powell since the nineteen eighties.
As every classic rock vinyl lover knows Hipgnosis (a firm) was a world famous 1970's design partnership specialising in vinyl record covers. Hipgnois, of course, became famous as the designers of record covers for albums by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Paul Mcartney, Rainbow,10 CC, Wishbone Ash, UFO and a host of others.
The film's narrative explains how, in1978, Peter Chistopherson joined Powell and Thorgerson as the third partner in Hipgnosis and carries the story forward until 1982 when the Hipgnosis, a partnership at will, was officially dissolved under section 26 of The Partnership Act 1890.
'Squaring the Circle' concludes with sad events of 1982, when the compact CD had replaced vinyl records and the Hipgnosis partnership, which could no longer trade profitably, and was legally dissolved by a consensus among the three partners in accordance with the Partnership Act 1890.
Thorgerson and Christopherson ,in accordance with s.32 (c), served notice on Aubrey 'Po' Powell. The official dissolution of the Hipgnosis partnership in 1982 is movingly recalled in great detail by Aubrey 'Po' Powell himself.
However, there is a sinsiter undertone to the film. Aubrey 'Po' Powell is a convicted criminal who has subsequently entered into many counterfeit forged documents in order to make money from an organised crime group known as The Pink Fraud Organised Crime Group.
Two key documents are The Sheridans Forgeries , a deed and a contract of assignment executed on 15th October 2008 by Po purportedly assigning Hipgnosis partnership property to Pink Floyd Music ltd and Pink Floyd (1987) ltd- 26 years after the Hipgnosis partnership had been lawfully dissolved!
Po knew that he and Storm Thorgerson had unlawfully made millions by fraud and tax evasion by, in 2008, executing the Sheridans Forgeries and many other false instruments.
In 2021 Po and his Pink Floyd pals decided that, in order to cover their tracks, it would be helful if a documentary film were made which would provide a veneer of respectability in order to help conceal the massive proceeds of crime generated by the Pink Fraud Organised Crime Group.
Po needed a film which would help paper over the cracks as to who actually owned the Hipgnosis copyrights following the dissolution of Hipgnosis in1982.
As a narccisist Po also wanted a hagiography, a film which could also serve as a testimonial to Hipgnosis.
However, the real driving force for Po behind the creation of such a film was to cement the false claims of copyright ownership advanced by The Pink Fraud Organised Crime Group.
Po had been a film maker in Hipgnosis and Greenback films and had made films for Pink Floyd
However, Po needed the endorsment of a third party known throughout the industry.
So Po travelled to Amsterdam and met with Anton Corbijn and persuaded the unwitting Anton to make the film which, unbeknown to Anton, would serve to advance Po's criminal narrative and cement the public perception that all was above board and lawful.
Anton had just been duped by Po who is a highly adept and persuasive fraudster. Anton was now unwittingly serving as a tool of the Pink Fraud Organised Crime Group
As Anton later stated 'Po is a very good salesman and I agreed'
The film features David Gilmour CBE, Nicholas Mason CBE, Roger Waters, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.
With the input of Sheridans 'Squaring The Circle' reproduces many of the album covers and photographs created as partnership property by Hipgnosis in the years 1968 to 1982.
Also included are candid interviews with 'Po' Powell as he confesses on camera to some of the long string of criminal acts which he committed as a young man.
Aubrey 'Po' Powell testified how he began he began as a drug addled car thief and graduated to wanton vandalism. Po recalled for Anton the horrifying details of how he threw a sofa from a high building and sent it crashing down onto the roof of a passing London taxi down below. This violent act was just part of a long litany of crimes committed by 'Po' Powell.
Inevitably no thought was given by Po to the danger to the lives of the poor taxi driver or his unsuspecting passengers.
However, a criminal career always ends in misery, not just for the victims, but often for the criminal. Auberey 'Po' Powell's professional crime spree soon became more and more serious as he played a key role in an organised bank fraud. That road led Aubrey 'Po' Powell to the dock in the Old Bailey. On 23rd September 1967, his 21st Birthday. The long arm of the law finally reached out and encircled 'Po' Powell when the Judge sentenced him to a nine months in prison suspended for one year for his part in the bank fraud.
