Thanks for this very informative tutorial! It is just awesome to see what the Pyramid is capable of!! Need to have this one!

Its an awesome sequencer, its compact and powerful. It is well supported too.

Great video, very useful. I have just ordered one used, since they aren't made anymore. Sorry you seem to have got some nasty comments below in places, not deserved! This video of yours is good because you're using to assemble a basic example track, as opposed to just going through each feature, which isn't that helpful.

Is pyramid good for live use? Need sequencer for live gigs for playback hardware synths. Is it fast to load next song?

This may be the sequencer that I get to follow up my old MMT-8.

That is why I'm here. Did you eventually get one?
@troypol3434 жыл бұрын
@@riseofthemachine2623 I did get one and I ended up returning it. While it has many great features that I wanted, in application and executing functions it was less than stellar. The Pyramid has grown a lot since it was first introduced and it has out grown its user interface. There are so many shift functions that are not on the panel that you need to memorize. They give you an overlay that has printed functions but it goes even deeper. I hope they make a mkII with more buttons and controls to accommodate the features. Also, it did not have much more note capacity than an MMT-8 itself which is pretty disappointing. I went back to using my MT-8 for now.

@@troypol343 Thanks so much. I have two MMT-8s left at this point, What I've always loved about them is they don't stand in the way of creativity; I'm looking at the launch sequences on these functions and feeling like maybe the learning curve would be steep and you have to work really closely with it, which is not necessary with the MMT-8 - Which I would love to see resurrected with all the clones and reissues coming these days.
@troypol3434 жыл бұрын
@@riseofthemachine2623 I remember one Alesis ad for the MMT-8 back in the day that said "Simple." That is what I want from my equipment. Something that does not get in the way of my creativity/songwriting. I am sure you could get used to memorizing many functions on the pyramid. But since there is so much you would really only remember the ones that you would use repeatedly. I am so used to having a button per function in most cases and that is easier than remembering a series of button presses to complete so many functions. So I hear ya!

after the red record button is armed, how can the recording be started remotely by simply at the first note pressed on the external midi-keyboard (instead of separately pressing the start button on the Pyramid)?
@joemcginty76 жыл бұрын
So when you create a new sequence, it copies everything over from the previous sequence? And then you mute the parts you don't want to hear? Creating songs is a bit confusing and counter-intuitive (for me, at least), having grown up with the Alesis MMT-8 and the Akai ASQ-10 where you chain patterns together to make a song. This is super helpful, though.

Thanks for this! I saw you also have/had an octatrack. I have the octatrack, do I need a pyramid ;)? does it overcome the polyphony / lack of note overlapping limitations of the octatrack?

Thanks for the workflow videos-- Is it possible to input all of this kind of stuff without stopping? For example, could you manually input he drums followed by the arp and then the melodies, or would it be too much to switch between tracks and all of that?
@StevenMorris8 жыл бұрын
***** It seems like just the thing I'm looking for. You kindly mentioned that you showed polyphonic input on one of your videos in response to a question I'd had about that-- I was having trouble finding the video. I saw on your Sequencer DAW Integration video that there was polyphony being transferred to and from the Pyramid. Is that the video you were referring to?
@StevenMorris8 жыл бұрын
***** I am generally curious about polyphonic input from a MIDI keyboard while using additional mono synths. I plan on using it with other drum machines and maybe even a looper at some point. As far as I can tell, it seems like this kind of on-the-fly composition can be done without ever stopping. If you could make a video showing those kinds of things, that would be amazing. As it is, I will probably be getting one of these. I am going to mention you when I do-- your tutorials/demos of this product are what are selling it for me. Thank you for taking the time to make these-- I understand that it takes a lot of time to create content!

If you could even do something like looping (via the Pyramid) a jdxi bass line followed by looping some ultranova chords and subsequently taking the jdxi bass out and playing some leads with it, I think that would illustrate the kind of thing I have in mind perfectly. Thanks again for taking the time to do this!

A very simple question that I didn't find anything about in the manual, is it possible to move notes? I know it's possible to rotate the pattern, but single notes/chords? If you miss the step when recording live for instance.

Its actually one of my favorite sequencers, a little expensive but with two midi posts available it can handle a lot of external gear. The guys at Squarp are very good too constantly improving the firmware and listening to customers requests. In this game I dont think one piece of equipment is the best they all offer something special.
