As a relative newbie to the sport, this is one of the most entertaining matches I have watched. Gaulthier was robbed by the double pick up and exacted revenge to one of the best in the game. The theatre was Shakespearean at times and thank bloody God - sport is formalised war and these two were gladiators trying to destroy their opponent. Love it. Bring on the Final.

This. All the "experts" calling that match "bad for the sport" and other ethic BS should read that comment, connect their 2 brain cells to understand it and shove right where the sun never shines. Thank you for commenting, and yes, we need more matches like that one.

but you can see that he has difficulties in the movement. Ofcourse you can act after a rallie, but you can't during it. Here you see that he has problems in both cases, though he's a bit exadurating after the rallie.. On the other hand there is so much adrenalin, that you just overcome the pain during the rallie. I had many of such examples during my matches, for instance someone hit me with the racket during one game, but I didn't felt much pain, but as soon as I returned home my arm started to hurt so much. I think everyone knows it

To all Gaultier haters, you know what ? He is one of the greatest Squash Ambassadors in the planet, in the history of the sport, he is just an intense person, but nobody can thrash him about his talent , personality or game intensity . The PSA needs at least three or more players with the personality and attitude of Gregory Gaultier. The French General Rules

Let's not forget the match between Gaultier and Elshorbagy when the latter kept using the equally unfair tactic of calling in the court attendants to dry the court when it wasn't even wet, every time Gaultier gained any momentum in the game. Then telling them in Arabic to take their time. This may not be that honourable but it was one thing, and that's pay back.

Sick Match. Gaultier obviously dislieks Elshorbagy for that blatant lack of sportmanship in their other 5 game matchup last year when he asked Gaultier for more time then hammered the ball down Gaultier's throat after Gaultier lazily served it by accident. Back to this match.. that ball looked down in the third game as well, so I'm glad the general won. He may however have taken the theatrics a bit too far...yikes.

Made the mistake of reading the comments before watching the footage. Probably not how we want to think of squash, aggressive celebrations, but whilst Gaultier started it Elshobagy didn't hold back much at the end of the 3rd game. Furthermore, I think Gaultier was definitely "at it" with the supposed injury and he was also done over with some incredibly poor refereeing on the double (a game he looked like winning and there for winning the entire match) so it all evens out IMO.

What about all these comments of Gaultier, ever been in a real squash match? in a PSA tournament? If you have, then you know how a injury work, you think of it, -it hurts, but if you start winning points with it start having fun the adrenalin starts pumping, -The injury becomes a part of your game. You can clearly see Gaultier plays extremely well organized squash in the last game, he clearly won that because of his squash? Sportsmanship or not he won the match, he didn't cheat.

Well you could be right - nothing wrong with working the audience and some gamespersonship but it's a sport that does need ethics on declaring things like bad pickups (as with golf).
@Ben_7476 жыл бұрын
Sorry but in 2017 why are their video review cameras so bad!? Honestly my phone has better slow motion capabilities than the cameras they use.. In a way I'm glad however as it means we got 5 games instead of just 3.
@squashtv6 жыл бұрын
But does your phone produce TV broadcast quality pictures? I doubt it. The equipment we use is of TV broadcast standard, sure we'd like higher frame rate cameras that provide more clarity for things like pickups, tins and outs. But at the moment we do the best we can with the budget and equipment we have. The staff at SquashTV strive to improve and hopefully someday soon we have cameras that are better than a mobile phones slow motion capabilities. Thank you for watching and enjoying the squash though, it was an incredible match to cover.

Don't like how Gaultier won that match at all and how he conducted himself. Yes it was legit and it was mind-games but it was a cheap tactic and does not do the sport any favours. Gaultier might have won the match anyway if it wasn't for the horrible call in Game 3, but to win like that, is shocking. Hope he gets smashed in the final
@Benj-p5w8 жыл бұрын

Exactly. He won this match after 2nd game. Shorbagy loves to play unfair and use bad calls to win matches. There are plenty of examples out here on squashtv. Honest players used to hit in purpose the ball down while serving, to show the protest to a wrong call of the ref..
@alyberop18 жыл бұрын
Normally I would agree but Shorbagy had it coming.
@taxi_boast8 жыл бұрын
Why was Shorbagy even thinking about Gaultiers injury? He should have stuck to his game plan and should not have been distracted. I don't think this was a cheap tactic at all. Great learning experience for Shorbagy though.
@NINESHOXXX8 жыл бұрын
Whether you rate Gaultier or not it was an interesting match and to be fair to Gaultier not that I condone his actions but Shorbagy played a shot when Gaultier thought he was not ready in a peviuous tournoment and Gaultier lost that match so in my view Gaultier just getting back at Shorbagy but the panto shinanigans should not superseed the squash.
@edelia90666 жыл бұрын
Gaultier: Unspeakable player, but disrespectful adversary. I think a less talented but more respectful player is more valuable.
@gordoncampbell47068 жыл бұрын
If Shorbagy could ignore all the drama and antics of Gaultier, he may have won this match. However he was unable to give up the spotlight to Gaultier the master of "gamesmanship" and consequently forgot to play desperate squash. Both players are masters of squash and only one is a double threat. Can you guess who is the master of drama and squash? Cheers to Greg and his coaching staff, mental toughness prevails. Best regards from LTSQUASH.
