Got to say for all the hate thrown at him, Asal was on top behaviour in this tournament. He was always looking to play the ball and he was respectful at the end of the match. On top of that, incredible effort to come back from 2-0 down. What a victory! Happy to support Asal if he continues on in this fashion.

"Top behaviour"? Yes he generally played the ball and was respectful at the end but that's not the issue, the issue is how he links his movement after his shot to whichever line he thinks his opponent will take.

Man!! dude's a grinding machine like Paul/Makin, talented short-maker like Gawad, Beastly like Mo.Elshorbagy. Its a tough time to be a male top 10 squash player when you know someone with the calibre of Asal is hunting the top guys down time and again. He's also getting some zing into squash which many seem to not like, but it might help make the game more fun and mainstreamish? Nevertheless, Momen played really well too but man-o-man, dont think anyone can stop Asal from reaching the top and achieving new records. Congrats my dude!

Well done Asal!!!! Amazing comeback. I love that he's learning how to be himself while also being a good sportsman, both in terms of attitude and conduct. Yes he still took his shirt off and did a big old goofy celebration, but did it after acknowledging and respecting his opponent. You can see that Momen appreciated that. It may take Asal time to win back the wider squash community but he's going in the right direction. The current top 5 men are all 28 years old or older.... I think that's going to change soon!

@@mellowmonsoon278 Well you see, there's this thing called a comments section on KZbin. It invites people to make comment. But since you ask, there has been consistent comment that while Asal may be talented, his demeanour, poor sportsmanship and borderline cheating are distinct turn off for many fans. He will not change (and the people around him will not influence him to change) until this is made clear. Hence, I'm happy to say that i prefer not to watch matches where he plays.

@777greglee 2 жыл бұрын
@@mellowmonsoon278 I'm not especially interested if he changes or not! You don't seem to realise that it's not up to me to win him over but the other way around. The simple fact is, squash is a product; a commodity. It exists to make money from a fan base and the players are it's brands. At present Squash is a relatively low value product. It's a fourth tier sport where the very best players in the world earn $250, 000 per year from tournaments (plus endorsements). This ranks it just below professional eating in terms of earnings. In other words, squash as product simply cannot afford to lose fans. People will indulge youthful hubris for a very short period of time. But they won't forgive bad sportsmanship and they won't forgive borderline cheating (look at Marwan!). Consider sports like Tennis (Federer and Nadal) and Surfing (Kelly Slater) and you will see that the fans crave someone they can admire as a person, not just tolerate as a talent. If Asal is the new brand face of squash, there are bad days ahead.

I am happy I didn't buy PPV for this match. It happened exactly what I said in men semifinal video highlights. Momen "always lose a big final" against disgusting ugly Asal. Momen doesn't have winner champions attitude. Prime Ashour, Matthew, Gaultier, El Shorbagy, Shabana would crush these two guys...... Momen should find a shrink... Second wave player... @@muhammadmopsa5269 Lol probably because they're retired/semi-retired. In their prime Asal would have no chance.
