I saw it live, and after the first game i wouldn't had bet a coin on Willstrop's favour, Farag was playing incredible I think he would have beaten everyone on this kind of form, there was no way to win points against him, I tought it was over, and out of nowhere Willstrop started to play tighter and the best I have seem him play since he beat Mohamed in the 2015 world open, Farag keep playing incredible nevertheless he lost!!, incredible match!!, two fantastic players!!

Unbelievable. What a mental feat for Willstrop to hold tight and step it up after that first game. Inspiration for us all!

James still remembers his first game against Ramy in British Open 2013! Not surprising, many would say.

@psasquash I really love some of these dynamic camera features. Have you considered bringing these to more videos in the future?

Bet Prince are feeling a bit foolish for dropping Willstrop now. Class is permanent.

Devious Basco I don't think Prince is in a great financial situation.

It's quite unbelievable that Willstrop has been so competitive in the best of 3 rounds, when matches are physically even more intense. Despite it being his clear weakness in comparison to the other top-ranked players, his class has really shone through; every point he wins comes with sublime control and accuracy.
@M0odez7 жыл бұрын
Agreed; his shot selection and accuracy have always made him a great player. The best of 3 format clearly raises the physical intensity at which the players can maintain; you would think this would favour the more explosive players who rely on retrieving more and are comfortable at a higher pace. The quality James has produced to match this has been unreal and I hope he goes further.

I'd argue 3 games suits him better. Best of 5 suits the stamina specialists like Matthew and Castagnet.

I can see where you're coming from, but I would say that it's more on the fact that the players are willing to sustain higher levels of intensity in bo3s; in bo5s they are more likely to allow Willstrop to dictate a slower pace, thus suiting Willstrop, due to not wanting to burn themselves out too quickly. Would be very interested to hear the players' opinions on this.

Does Farag have a nick name yet? The Preying Mantis seems to fit perfectly for mine.

How about Ali "The Cat" Farag

I do believe generally they call him "the engineer", not so much because he plays really intelligently on the court but simply because he does have an engineering degree!
@watching991347 жыл бұрын
Commentators used "Rubberman" and "Fantastic Farag".
@nickyclement7 жыл бұрын
In this match they did but I think they were trying to highlight his unbelievable retrieving at those points. If you go back and watch older Faraq games they do call him "the engineer" occasionally, i just don't think it was as catchy as most of the other nicknames : /

Very good from the marksmen. He can beat the most prolific of players when he wants to. Top squash, great venue but sad to see the crowd.
