Always concise language in your descriptions I like that And no annoying loud and grating music to introduce your project. I am currently rehabilitating an old motorcycle and I learn shop stuff from all your projects

I had race cars when I was much younger, the last one was a '57 Chevy B Gasser. I learned to drive on a Farmall Cub in 1955 at 7 yo. I was like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disney. I have always had a penchant for dozers, having operated a JD 350 for a few months, then "played" with a D8 when I worked for a construction company in 1978. BUT, I knew Nothing about the working parts of a Dozer. So, watching these videos, I am Mesmerized watching the piece by piece disassembly, (With Complete Explanation !), and reassembly of each component. I am so nearly there, I feel the grease on my hands! Thank you Toby, for sharing the excellent mechanic skills you have !! While this "10" is a "Little Cutie", one has to remember that even this "little" heavy duty cold hard steel means business ! I saw the "10" which was on outdoor display during your road trip to pick up the only D2 new cylinder liners left in the world (made in 1938), and you said in the video that if that "10" was yours, you wouldn't have it stored outdoors. I agree with that 100% ! I would keep it in a heated shed, and only drive it on dry weekends ! LOL. Can hardly wait to see this put back together. Thank you again for sharing your wealth of knowledge!

Hi Pal! I don't feel bad about having 6 lawn mowers now with all your stuff, but one must have what one must have. Hope all is well on the farm. Grass still grows on our swamp in the hills. Job security and yes, you might as well fix what you find while you're there. Sweet little Kitty, by the way! Take care and God willing I'll be here for the next one!

Too many to keep hot but enough to keep warm? I know how you feel and a project ALWAYS ends up bigger than the start. I've never seen it fail yet. But that's what ,makes us stay flexible or elastic as my wife calls it. I like the little Kitty! It'll run like a Swiss watch when you're done. Plus a new throwout bearing! That'll be nice.

cool video, good to get an advanced look at similar problems I'll have to face later when I eventually play with my "project Caterpillar" Even though mine isn't a 10 but of the same age and similar origins (twenty two) I was originally after a 10 I'd known about for 15 years or so,,but someone else "borrowed" it permanently before I got the owners permission. So I settled on the twenty two.

wow.. thank.. the family acreage has a 1926 Twenty.. mom wanted to change the transmission oil. dad drained and refilled it.. found the clutch cavity and filled that with gear oil also. dad decided to wash the oil out of the clutch with 5 gallons of MEK. washed all the grease out of the throw out bearing and pilot bearing. the motor eventually seized.. somebody took the magneto. i saw it about 20 years ago gleaming bright yellow in the sun. . the last time it was painted was about 1963.. with the best quality hansa yellow paint that could have been had. it was almost glowing it was so bright.. i reached out to touch it.. then pulled back.. realized that 1963 paint was LEAD based. so it just sits out in the sagebrush. in the early 70s. one of the locals borrowed the cat 15 pull grader with pnumatic tires.. its painted and on display in their front yard.. both of those were great jungle gyms to grow up playing on. thanks for the video.. i don't even know if it still exists. i can see it on google maps but that image is a few years old. . . i look forward to your putting the finishing touches on the TEN. to keep it going another 90s years.

I owned a 10 and a number of 15's and 22's in my time which was admittedly was over 20 years ago. From memory I always took the engine out as one unit to play in the clutch area. The foot plates needed to be undone as did the front bolts on the mudguards. Then the keeper on the throttle, jack up the front of the gearbox, drop and slide out the equaliser spring, then undo the ring of bolts around bell housing and extract the engine whole! Have I missed something out? I am old, good video all the same.....

Cat stuff , well engineered , made to be rebuilt not thrown away , love it ! I have a D2 5U that needs attention . Pup won't engage , been pull starting it with my pick up . Need to pressurize the fuel tank a bit and bleed the injectors almost every time I start it . Clutch is acting odd , I took off the small plate on top and the disk with the pull out pin turns freely , the pin doesn't seem to engage , is it possible that the pin is broken off ? The knob is there and it pulls out against a spring . Cheers , Barry

at 10:00 minutes(approx) couldn't that front plate come off the spring retainer, looked like 3 cotter pins and maybe a bit of hammer or prying persuasion. Just a guess from an amatuer.

@daleslover27716 жыл бұрын
kind of curious how many years did they make those things,, I live on a ranch,,we got one buried under a pile of the debris, I asked the owner she said that the last time that Cat ran was when she was a kid, stated that the left track if you lock the track... would come off off its roller,it's a flat track the suspension is identically what you got on yours same Flathead 4,,, the only thing that can see different from yours and hers is to shroud too the radiator is different. I think she said it may be a 1931 or 32

@3:50 I'm staggered to see a total lack of lubrication on the linkage. I can hardly believe that someone who is so very particular about mechanical details can assemble a mechanism without lubrication. The rust in the pivots is an insult to the machine.
