People underestimate how important having good foot health is! Shoes/socks have a role to play
@Try2K3tchup

Agreed. But people making the argument that these types of shoes are natural are partially wrong. I love the wide toe box on them like altras. The lack of cushion and heal drop made it feel like I was running on straight cement with no cushion. Another point. Walking or running on cement/asphalt is not natural which is why advancements have been made for cushioned shoes.

For me, when I switched to zero drop shoes it helped the most. If I go back to converse, vans, or any thing that restricts my toe box splay, it creates discomfort with my plantars. doing proper squats and lunges also improved my foot muscles.

The one and only thing that helped me with this were calf raises! My physiotherapist had me doing weighted single leg calf raises with full range of motion (stretching the foot fully at the bottom and then coming up), the pain was gone within days. Physio is truly magic

I had very bad and very painful plantar fasciitis, which I have cured with a very simple technique: just stand up, raise the heels of the ground, and get up on the toes. Then go the other way, raise the toes with the heels on the ground. You don't have to go very high. Just lifting your heels or your toes a little bit off the ground is enough. Sometimes I lift high, sometimes I don't. Simply rolling back and forth on my feet like this for 30 seconds or a minute gives me instant relief. I do this a few times every day and ALWAYS when my plantar fasciitis hurts. After some weeks, it completely disappeared. It comes back from time to time - probably because I am a runner - then I simply do this exercise a few times, and then it goes away again. English is not my first language, so I'm sorry if I didn't explain this method very well. But I still hope everyone understands the exercise. I hope someone will give it a try. 😀
@tiffariff
@tiffariff Жыл бұрын
The stretching is minimizing it, but make sure you are exercising your calves! (Look for exercises that strictly work the soleus muscle, you can start cautiously strengthening them and it likely should go away, if it continues even after strengthening and training go get physical therapy if you have access!
@JeDindk
@JeDindk Жыл бұрын
@@tiffariff I run more than 150 miles each month. I bike something like 100 miles, and I do some strength training, so weak calves are definitely NOT the problem. My calves are HUGE. 😁 This exercise I do doesn't just minimise the pain. It gives instant relief, and it solves the problem. My plantar fasciitis came back about two months ago after I did a marathon. After the marathon and the day after, I did my exercise 4 or 5 times. All in all, I probably spent 5 minutes doing this exercise, and then it was gone. So I think my method works very well and it would be a waste of money to see a physiotherapist. I think we are all different, and I don't know how this would work for other people. But it works brilliantly for me. 🙂

It's unfortunate that most women's shoes don't have adequate toe room. As someone width wide feet and an even wider toe box, which I consider to be quite normal, it's practically impossible to find shoes that fit. Women's shoes are awful. I've always wanted to start my own shoe company but I don't know how.

Another fantastic method I learned is to stretch the calves AND hamstring muscles to relieve pain. The tight calves and hamstrings can pull the plantar muscle thus putting it under tension, straining it, and exacerbating the pain.

As an LMT in NY, I find that a lot of supposed "plantar fasciitis" situations in my clients is actually relieved by work in the calves (also, from personal experience). Poor footwear can cause imbalances in the calf muscles that add to the increased pain. So, aside from all of the great things mentioned in this video, having an experienced practitioner do myofascial work in your calves and/or doing fascia work on your own calves with a fascia tool (like a fascia blaster), or rolling in the calves, can also alleviate symptoms. Good Health all.

Plantar fasciitis is caused by aseptic inflammation of the tendons or fascia on the bottom of the foot, and the most common symptom is pain and discomfort in the heel, with the pressure point often at the plantar surface near the heel, and sometimes the pressure pain is more intense and persistent. The pain is obvious when waking up in the morning, intensified when walking excessively, and even when standing and resting in severe cases.

Finally some one who says the toe box restrictions is a major culprit of plantars. I’ve seen countless channels by athletes and chiropractors who refuse to say that narrow tapered shoes have a negative impact on foot health. I was literally crawling in the morning from the pain and then I switched to Zero drop shoes, and saw improvement slowly over time and then I incorporated squats and lunges which helped speed up the healing process.

Walking barefoot is not recommended for plantar fasciitis. The plantar fascia is the band of tissue that connects the heel to the ball of the foot.
