I don't think all 8 would of stabbed him but in UK there is a thing called "joint enterprise" where 1 or 2 people might of done the actual crime but if 6 people were there and they can prove they are part of the same gang and knew what was going on then they can claim joint enterprise and they can get life too. It a bit of a lazy way for them to close cases especially when no one is snitching.
