Levenshulme a once proud place….my friend bought her first house in Longsight when she got married in the late 1960s .We used to go dancing to Levenshulme palace on a Wednesday and Saturday…Never got drunk no drinks were served in the dance halls then. .Well dressed men and lovely dressed ladies. The streets were clean and the shops were lovely ..I have literally cried watching this ,there were only English people there then…So this is what we have become ..I am ashamed to be called English …In twenty years this will no longer be an English country .If I was younger I would be out as fast as my feet would carry me….WHAT A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS……COMING TO A TOWN NEAR YOU SOON.

I'm born and bred Levenshulme but in the 90s and as a kid there were AT LEAST a dozen pubs on Stockport Road. The Palace is now an Asian supermarket and buffet restaurant. We had butchers, locksmiths, pet shops(you might remember Gay-Lyfe?), fishmongers, banks, charity shops etc. now ALL gone. All it is now is takeaways, mobile phone repair shops and barbers. It's embarrassing to say I'm born and raised there because it wasn't like that growing up, it's just beyond recognition now, sad to say it's been wrecked to the point of no return. I moved out a few years back and only drive through it, very occasionally. Thank you for your story and memories about the Palace, I'm not old enough to remember it as a dance house, but old enough to remember it as a nightclub. Have a great day 😀

And it's nice to know there are people out there with love and empathy for the less fortunate. There's a lovely lady who comes to Birkenhead every Tuesday giving out free lunches to the homeless people. Every little helps. Even if I give them a bit of coin, they are very thankful for it. New to the podcast so what I am saying might already be the case. Great episode and I have enjoyed a few of your others 👍As a Manchester born lad, the way you are speaking to the homeless and allowing them to share their story is refreshing. Too many people see the homeless problem as THEIR problem as it’s THEIR choices which have led to the situation THEY are in. In most cases this isn’t true. ‘Most’ when looking at the root cause are victims. Not all, but most. Billy you should be doing more of this (like I said I am new to the pod so this may be a regular thing you do) as you are helping educate a lot of people on this matter, along with showing the “comfy” part of society that the homeless situation is rising and will only continue to rise unless we do something about it. Not all want to be helped but I feel by you speaking to them, showing others and hopefully you are pointing them in the right direction for help off the screen. Then you are making a difference so Thankyou 👍😎

Charlie Veitch is scum. Cannot stand him. Bowls about like some big man just mocking the vulnerable. Then runs a mile and grasses if comes on top.

Crazy thing is, in 100 yrs or so people will look back at these videos and have a perfect representation of how many lived.

That old fella sleeping in a tent for 6 years sums this country up. Utter disgrace as Billy has walked past boarded up house after boarded up house so why are these people on the street when we are sending billions of £s in aid to foreign countries? This is insane.

Great content today Billy lad... Ahh bless them all who are out on the streets... There true soldiers... They all have their stories n some are hard to hear... First lad in the tent was a character n then the lad Paul was it who was born in London n was doing a bit shadow boxing... Funny indeed but yes his spirits are high n God bless him n all those up in MANNY on streets... God bless you Billy n love for yous family 💯💯💯

My 54:year old daughter was offered a tent but with no word on where to put it. She told them she had been raped and abused. Did they care? Not a jot. Said take it or leave it. She sofa surfs for safety. The hidden homeless.
