That moment with the son breaking down and bawling his eyes out, saying sorry to his mom, and she comforting him was just BOOM right in the damn feels, man! We’ve all done stupid shit in our lives that we feel guilty about and always hate disappointing our parents. Regardless of whether or not he was at fault, the son knew it was a shitty situation, and anyone would feel guilty because of it. Whether he was feeling regrets or trying to reassure his mom he wasn’t trying to leave her, he was still sincere with his apology. And the mom did what any REAL mom would’ve done, comforted him and tell him it’s alright.

This! One thing I commonly say is "you can't let feelings or emotions dictate your judgement when logic and reasoning are present." Even if we were super generous and say he had 15 seconds left after breaking free from them, everything you stated is exactly why they would've died if he went back for his mom. The part where a lot of people say he didn't care about his mom towards the end when he simply went with the guys, I feel like he realized there wasn't enough time and gave up. Plus, his mom let him go. She didn't try running after him or helping him fight them off. She wanted him to survive even if it meant she had to let him go to do so.

Some people are mad at the son... It's not his fault, he held his mom but he was grabbed away from her, he tried to resist (okay, he didn't do his best to free himself) but he searched for his mom. He really felt guilty even if it's not his fault at first... I was more mad at him to vote to continue than for this. Thank you for sharing this touching moment, the first time I watched this episode, I cried.

One of the guys was still holding his arm pulling him at the end and there was no more time to go back anyway so if he would had managed to get out of the other guys grip while the mother was taken back the other two he and the guys that pulled him would have died.

I think it’s because, yes, he was being pulled away & he did try to push them off like “no that’s my mom”, BUT towards the end as they got closer to the door he just turned his back and slumped his way into the room with those dudes. @tylerbramhall6596 I know sometimes the brain doesn't really understand the situations when we are just watching everything happen on the big screen, in our comfy bed or couch, so we just go " nah I would go back to my mom like the flash and die with her easily, instead of giving a chance for both of us to survive ". First of all you would probably be so afraid that you would just freeze in the game due to how terrifying the situation is ( you wouldn't be as brave as you think you would ) but assuming that you were focused and chilling in the middle of dead bodies and a crowd of people fighting for their lives, you are at the door with the two guys ready to go in and you can only hope two other people snatch your mom (like it happened in the show) and hope both of you survive. But you would rather run all the way to your mother ( if you managed to make it there without slipping) snatch her ( Time's up already but let's pretend they extend the time just for you and your big brain moment) and then you go look for another player who is alone ( time's up again, both dead, but oh well ) and then go look for a room that doesn't exist anymore ( time's up, you're both gone *again* ).

This scene alone proves how out of touch people are by blaming the son. They forget there is a timer in the game, they forget that they need the exact number of players, they forget that they need to be fast and lucky to get an empty room and they seem to not have enough braincells to realise that if he wasted time going for her, then wasted time looking for another solo player and then waste time finding a door, they would both end up in the coffin, just like that. He only stopped struggling too much when he was already dragged to the door.

My favorite thing about squid games, is that it's so clearly supposed to be about grey areas of decisions and moral ambiguity, and yet everyone acts like they know exactly wut they would do. Example from season 1, is Sangwoo tricking Ali, and gihun tricking Ilhoon. Everyone pretends gihun wasn't pulling a trick either, the point is that NONE of the characters were good people, just regular ppl with flaws and impulse decisions for self preservation. If squid games taught me anything, there's a lot of people moving through life like Sangwoo, yet pretend they hate ppl like Sangwoo.

If we try to understand their viewpoint, it's because he didn't throw any punches, and when he got close to the door, he basically walked in with the two guys. Realistically, these people get caught up in the emotions and feelings in the moment and forget that there is a 30 second timer. By the time the two guys grabbed him and wrestled him away, there was maybe 20 seconds left. That's being generous. Even if he successfully got out, due to the fear, desperation and adrenaline of the two guys, they would've snatched him again to be drug away. Plus, the son isn't known for being strong or violent. On top of that, it would've taken time to fight the two guys off, get to his mom, find another solo player, get to a spare room, all in less than 20 seconds. It's impossible to accomplish a feat unless you're a gifted fighter or you're just really jacked.

It's very possible that if he did manage to break free of those guys and tried to go back at those last couple of seconds, mom still may have been grabbed and saved leaving him to be locked out and killed in front of her. She already said she wouldn't be able to go on without him, and him dying trying to go back probably would've made her feel guilty, leading to her just giving up trying to survive the rest of the game. I can't speak for everyone but I wouldn't have liked that tragic outcome for these two characters.

People getting mad at the son like boy didnt struggle and had been with his mom throughout the whole game before this. He has showed nothing but love and care for his mom. He didnt struggle strong enough or whtaever, but what can you really do when you're getting dragged and the time was almost up. It's not like he had an hour or even 5 more minutes to get in any of the room. Truthfully, it was a complicated situation, your mind really couldnt figure things out in that small amount of time, and your life's literally at stake, hence why the mom could understand his son. She saw him struggled to grab his mom, but he was dragged and they were seconds away. What matters to his mom is that they all survived it, thats all. If he would’ve fought to get to his mother, they would still have to rush around the room and find one more person and hope to find a room to stay in. There wasn’t enough time for all that. Good thing 001 and 456 grabbed her and headed inside a room or she would’ve joined Young Mi in the upper room. I think a lot of people are missing the story they are telling with them and why some are mad at him. The mom was only there to settle his debts. In the first game, he immediately shielded her with his body. Then he decides own his own to play another game because loan sharks are going to kill him. He starts not prioritizing his mom and shifting to survival. When they locked eyes and he stopped fighting, you can tell they both notice the shift. Hence his enourmous regret. When his mom was questioned later about it, she defended that her son is not like that. She stops him later from trying to join the siege team. He loves his mom but they are showing he is starting not to consider her well being and that her caring will end in tragedy.

It was his fault. He made a mistake. I'm tired of people who is saying it wasn't his fault. It was. If you watched the show with your eyes open, you would've seen he stopped struggling against the guys dragging him and accepted that his mom might die. Further proving this, in the next scene, he is shown to be remorseful and regretful for leaving his mom. Yes, he did leave him mom knowing full well she might die, but he shows that he regrets ever leaving her and in the next round he doesn't let go of her again. He did something wrong but he grew from it. By far my favorite dynamic in the series

EXACTLY, this guy got pulled away and DID NOT fight back at all and after turned around on his mom to get into the room to save his own self. ANY other man would have unleashed some force of strength to break free to get back to their mom and he did not do that.

I know i shouldn’t get this worked up, lol but it really annoys me when they say. “It wasn’t his fault”. Yea it was! He didint fight hard enough, at the end u can see u just accepted that his mom would most likely die. Thats why he is crying out of shame for the horrible thing he did.
