Can we talk about the color in Squid Noir? Where's Wanda just took the direct value of each color but Squid Noir actually adjusted the contrast and added detail to the background to make sure the characters still stood out despite the lack of color. Squid Noir also changed the background in the scenes to be atmospheric (some places darker than others, some more detailed, adding the water affect to be still, calm). Fairly Odd Parents, for the most part, had usual, unremarkable backgrounds in Where's Wanda.

My main problem with Where’s Wanda, I feel like a few of the side characters and even Timmy feel a little out of character. ((PERSONAL OPINION)) Timmy still retains some of his personality, but it feels slightly changed to match the tone of the actual episode Plus it feels odd basing an episode based on finding a fish, I feel like it could’ve been a better execution. I would slightly rewrite the episode basing off of something else (What I mean is, something unexpected not a missing fish). It’s far from a bad episode, I call it average, and watching it now, its definitely not as good as I remember it (Especially compared to Squid Noir, Whatever Where’s Wanda did, Squid Noir improves on).

Episodes like Squid Noir really indicate how much of a transition point into what could be something great seasons 9 to 11 have been. It's got some pretty solid jokes ("I don't know who Jack is, but I would like some beans!") and some... much less solid ones (Spongebob inspecting Mr. Krab's butt print). More of the former and less of the ladder; something adults and kids can laugh at TOGETHER (now that I think about it, do KIDS even laugh at these butt-sniffing jokes anymore?)

Small thing, but noir is pronounced “no-ar” not “nore”
@philanselmo29046 жыл бұрын
Please don't call me a grammar nazi, but since the topic calls for it... "noir" is more like "nou-ah" since r's used in this fashion are generally silent/barely audible when speaking French. i just used the "u" to emphasize the nasal quality when speaking the word. "noair" is almost as incorrect as Jay's "nore". OP's "no-ar" sounds a little bit better. I'm no expert in phonetic spelling, so I just looked it up: the proper phonetic spelling appears to be "nwa". Case closed.

TBH, Where's Wanda felt pretty cliche. I don't know why she was sent to a chocolate land. sure, she likes chocolate but, that's more of Homer's hobby. Squid Noir does have the right example. Squidward's havoc of playing his clarinet poorly angered the Binki Bottomites, Krabs, Bubble Bass and Patrick leading to abuse Squidward of his egotism. Strange to see The Jellyfish steal the instrument considering the fact in the previous seasons, they hated hearing his bad playing. Apparently, They like the singing in this theme. But, anyway, Squid Noir has a much clever set up and has good jokes. This is the better Detective episode in my honest opinion ;D

I think I know why Cosmo sending Wanda to Chocolate City works for me. Cosmo sent her there because he wanted to help her, when in reality, it only made things worse for her. What matters to me is the intention behind his actions. He cares about his wife, so he wanted to do something good for her by sending her away. It shows that Cosmo may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he cares. It also creates a very nice instance of situational irony for me, but those are just my thoughts.

Hey Alpha, if I may make some quick constructive criticism. I've always felt something was off about your into, and now I've found out why. There's no music. It's kinda weird to sit through without a tune to accompany it. If I were to make a comparison, look at the intro from the Memeulous channel. It's got a simple song to accompany the animation. I dunno, I think it would be a good idea. Hope you read this and understand.

But it’s better that way to avoid copyright infringement (Especially with Viacom). I’m fine with it the way it is and I understand your concern

Austin Mangrum That’s fair. I personally listen to videos that don’t have background music but I would be experimenting with it.

Alpha Jay Show it's more for just the intro animation. Having something play during it would be nice. Just the silent splash animation is a little odd, that's all.

I like "Where's Wanda" more ( better story and telling ) but I think the black & white works better in "Squid Noir".

I think time is on SpongeBob’s side. Better techniques, widescreen, etc.

That's true! My opinion on the Fairly OddParents episode may be biased as well since I loved to watch that show in the past and it stuck with me ever since :)

OKAY, for the whole three-and-a-half minutes I’ve been watching this, I totally thought you were talking about Wandavision, I hadn’t gotten to the part with Fairly Oddparents, or maybe I had but just zoned out. Ah, where has my brain gone?

before I actually watch the video I have to ask Jay or anyone, is Where' Wanda the episode where Cosmo says "Riiiiiiiiiight"? because aside from some of the references that gag was the thing that I remember from the episode and how forced it was.

Solomon Addison Yes, that is said episode.

1:40 actually made me laugh. the way he sighs in relief after brutally ripping his eyes out and stuffing them in his ears is perfect.
