A few days ago I got back into flipping (I only know the basic open, quick draw and latch drop so far, but excited to learn more) and the spinning pivots on my cheap replica of the 42 drove me crazy this day. I also need a thread locker for my other knife (an otf where vibration from opening loosened one screw over a week), super glad to hear you guys have tips for spinning pivots too! What a great find your videos (and products when I'll be able to afford them) are!

I was just learning about the best way to use loctite in a knife screw, not necessarily a Balisong, but hey, this worked. Thanks!
@ashkurdin5 жыл бұрын
Alternatively you can apply that drop to the bottom of a thread in the pivot, this won't make thread locker holding too tight so you cannot unscrew without any damage

Also you can have a drop of it go inside the pivot and tighten the screw, but make sure it’s not too tight, check if the handle swings freely but secure, so when the loctite hardens it will stay perfect. And then wait 24 hours and then add Lubricant , now you are ready to flip!!.

@Clanps3 жыл бұрын
depends, if its a water base lubricant then it will dry up. preferably use an oil based lubricant. Most oil based lubes will work just fine
@mortimermouse30863 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use rubik's cube lube on a metal knife, since the lubes are made for plastic to plastic, or plastic to metal contact. I use rubik's cube lube on my squiddy and it makes an INSANE difference. Hoppes or KPL just gums up the plastic parts while rubik's cube lube makes it smoother. I use lubicle one.

Loctite 242 and 243 are both blue series semi-permanent thread lockers, but 243 is stronger and will last longer than 242. We always recommend to use 243 over 242 if you can.

Threadlocker isn’t an adhesive, though vibra-tite does sell a separate product that is an epoxy. Threadlocker just removes oxygen from in between the threads. Blue loctite is made for a much larger screw. It’s not made for your knife screws man. You want to use the purple loctite or purple vibra-tite as it’s specifically made for small tiny screws.
