Seeing Gem learn the hard way that bamboozler had more range than him as squiffer was really funny to me as a bamboozler main, lol. Some tips for playing it since I can tell you weren't used to the weapon: you want to use full-charge shots to paint for sure. You also want to stay out of ink as you're doing it; I noticed you had a habit of firing a shot, diving into ink and then firing another (something that even carried over to the snipewriter for a moment), but you absolutely don't want to do this as bamboozler. If you're aiming to paint then you can do it much better by firing many full charged shots one after the other as you strafe to the side, and if you're fighting then you should always be up and ready to land that second shot needed to kill.
@squiddler7731 Жыл бұрын
As for actual playstyle, I like to think of bamboozler almost as a pseudo-backline weapon. It's not as strong a backline as the regular chargers, but the thing about it is that it still has more range than 90% of the weapons in the game, including many that you wouldn't expect like the squiffer. This means that against most weapons, you still want to play that role and focus on denying space and playing more defensively. It being a 2-shot kill adds an extra wrinkle to this though: you'll have a much harder time getting the kill on more evasive targets, and especially against those at the edge of your range who will simply back off after the first hit. This means you almost want to have frontline weapons rush towards you, if they're coming closer that makes them much easier targets that won't be able to escape, and you have so much more mobility than other chargers that you can evade and fight them even if they get in firing range (one thing I love doing as bamboo is waiting for them to swim in, swim past them once they've stopped shooting, and then pop up behind them to catch them by surprise). In my opinion bamboozler actually has a pretty good match up against most frontline weapons for this reason, but this comes at the cost of struggling against all the "true" backline weapons that have more range than you do. Against them you're the one that has to be aggressive, and unless you get in really close (something you generally don't want to do), they're the ones that will have the easiest time dancing around your range, evading your shots and ultimately punishing you. The best way to deal with them is to catch them by surprise, and though you can do this from angles other frontlines couldn't with your longer range, it might be harder to sneak up on them thanks to the laser sight giving you away.

For goo tuber, it's important to take advantage of the high paint output you can get with tap shots to cover important areas. Not only do you make it much harder for your opponents to move around freely, but you also charge missiles, which is basically the reason to run goo tuber in the first place. Also, keep in mind that the missile timer goes just as long whether you fire them immediately or wait, so you should take your time when firing them and prioritize targeting backliners to get more value out of them

Tetras don't have a special (again). Jet Squelchers are boring as hell to play and have half a sub and a special outclassed by Bubble. Forge Pro chugs ink and has pretty bad strafe speed. The reason I decided to learn it was to have a Charger I can casually use due to the fact that I literally just learned Chargers at the end of 2 but kills are too easy (I'm serious, it's just not satisfying anymore because the stages are horrible) and because it's literally just a better Aggro-2shot than Writer. The thing I dont get about bamboo is why you'd play it over tri stringer. Tri stringer walls areas a billion times better, can basically hold a line impossibly well in a much larger area because of the spread, it has a longer range and hits over walls, AND it can threaten a 1 shot if people dont respect its zone, in addition to having the best object damage in the game for its range (imagine if an explo could 1 shot wave breakers or 2 shot crabs). When you add on that tri stringer has the same special, there's really just nothing bamboo has over it. Sure, toxic mist may not have the same kind of area denial as a lethal bomb, but cmon, autobomb isn't THAT much better to make bamboo worth it, plus toxic mist actually synergizes with both tri stringer and killer wail very well.
@frederikfrajylland2102 Жыл бұрын
WHen it comes to why you would pick a bamboozler over a tri-stringer. the short answer is: The bamboozler is easier to play, is more mobile and can splat people much faster due to its short charge time. The Bamboozler outshines the tri-stringer, when it comes to an engagement, where both players can get in range at eachother. Longer answer. The Bamboozler have another playstyle than the tri-stringer. With the bamboozler, you can react on enemies and punish them for bad positioning even if you do not have a charged shot, because the bamboozlers charge time is so low. The Bamboozler works when on the frontline, is light weight and outranges a lot of non back-line weapons. In a battle, where the enemy is about to get in range to shoot at you it goes like this. The Bamboozler is punished less for missing it's shot, as it charge pretty fast. The Tri-stringer is punished a lot for missing, as it pretty slow while charging and it takes a while for it to charge.
@snaiilsalt Жыл бұрын
yea im a stringer player and the appeal of it is that it shoots over walls and pokes people and annoys everyone and gets 10000 assists, while the bamboozlers appeal is to miss all the shots you want cause it takes 1 millisecond to charge. if you play tri stringer to shoot people twice and they die instead of being a diet explosher you should play reeflux or bamboo
@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 Жыл бұрын
@@frederikfrajylland2102 You act like tri stringer needs to charge to full to be good. Partial charges deal max damage and can 1 shot, they're good for close range combat, have basically the highest object damage in the game with OS, and can play very similarly to a bamboo at close range but with better damage, painting, angles, etc. And yes, it also happens to be an amazing backline/anchor, but acting like that's all it can do and is outclassed by bamboo in a head to head engagement is just wrong.
@frederikfrajylland2102 Жыл бұрын
@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 I tried to highlight some of the bamboozlers strength where it is clearly better than a tri-stringer. So you could get an idea about, why some people prefer the bamboozler over the tri-stringer. I know the bamboozler have a lot of big weaknesses, but that is also the case for the tri-stringer. Basic bamboozler stats: The bamboozler can charge a shot fully by 0.33 seconds and it's tap shots have the same range as it's fully charged shots. It's damage range is 30-85 damage. Without main saver, the bamboozler can shoot 11 fully charged shots in a full ink tank. "and [tri-stringer] can play very similarly to a bamboo at close range but with better damage, painting, angles, etc. " I disagree with the damage part. I am not going to argue over it. Instead, I will request you to do this experiment in the training room. step 1. Go to the training room with the bamboozler (you can do it via the shop, if you do not won the bamboozler). Go out to it's longest range and do a fully charged shot against a dummy followed by a tap shot. Note how fast the dummy is splatted (less than 0.5 seconds if done right. (this is the kill time of the bamboozler at all ranges) Step 2. Switch to the tri-stringer and do not move (jumping is of course allowed). Now try to kill the dummy faster than the bamboozler. You also have to include charge times of the weapon of course. If you want to, you can try to kill faster with the tri-stringer at a closer range, to see if that does a difference. Step 3 (optional) Once you have tested the kill time of both weapons in the bamboozlers range area. Then write another comment about your results. I would like to hear, what you think of the result.
@squiddler7731 Жыл бұрын
I play a ton of both weapons, and honestly each of them has all sorts of advantages and strengths that the other doesn't. Tri-stringer is generally better as a backline weapon thanks to the strengths you mentioned (explosions to deny space and hit over walls, longer range, etc.), but as a consequence it also has all the same weaknesses as a backline weapon: it's slow and will struggle much more if any frontlines get in your face. Bamboozler has the upper hand here, it's speed and mobility is far better which means it can handle and hard-punish weapons that try to approach it directly. It's combo of full charge into tap shot is also much more consistent than tri-stringer's one-shot in my experience and doesn't take nearly as long to charge, which lets it play much more aggressively. It's flexible enough to play more of a skirmisher or even a frontline at times, whereas stringer is kinda locked into that role of backline weapon (and thus it does that job a lot better most of the time)

Yep Goo Tuber is low teir, sure it can partial charge splat in the same time as the Squiffer at the same range, has the best inking tap shots of the chargers, has one of the best subs in the game, has one of the most broken specials in the game with the lowest special cost for any weapon with that special, and is extremely more mobile compared to any other charger in the game... but it can't charge as quick in the air as a squiffer so it's dogshit. Man if only the weapon could charge midair them maybe it could be at least mid teir. And even then it's not like Splatoon 3 has any new movement mechanics that a weapon like Goo Tuber is able to capitalize on more than the other chargers in the game. If Splatoon 3 has some sort of... idk... roll or surge... then MAYBE, just maybe, goo tuber could not only be competitively viable but also fun to play... oh well like that's gona happen.

Goo tips 6-o>- (tuber ascii art) 1) Prioritize painting over splating. This gives you (and your team) some space thanks to the goo tuber having the best tap shots in terms of painting and range, arguably. This space will also allow you to score some kills or if you're not comfortable at getting kills yet. That said, it's a good mix-up to stop spamming your tap shots to paint and hold one for a potential kill if an enemy gets too comfortable and that space you created can allow for you to approach and get a sneaky kill before it goes away (or even better, they approach you anyway so you don't even have to move). 2) Walls are your best friends. Well not always, but they can help you get kills. Walls conceal you and gives limited ways for the enemy to try and attack you, perfect for the goo's abilities and (advertised) playstyle. When enemies don't know your there, they start getting comfortable and, say, start swimming in a straight line or move to a position closer to you. That's your chance to strike and jumpscare them! 3) Move to positions where it's easier to get kills. Fighting on flat, open terrain is easier than fighting on a slant or against someone with high ground. In 22:15, you could've kept retreating to where there was high ground for you and a much safer area to snipe. Alternatively, you could've went to the left where there was open area to snipe and more chances for better, easier shots than the cramped hallway that block shots at the basket and forced you to look at two different ways at once, especially since you were standing right in the middle of it. Plus, you could guess that the enemy team would aim for basket so they are likely to approach there (and if they went after you instead, well, you're up against a sploosh and a luna. What are they gonna do, outrange you?). 4) Make more use out of storing your charge shots. Even if it was only for a few frames, that allows you to weapon strafe (like bomb strafing but goo tuber), a helpful maneuver that allows you to change to the opposite direction quickly, allowing for quick retreats if you think the situation suddenly got worse, or as a bait and punish tool; you could fake an approach, back away, and strike anyone who appears. You're also able to jump just as high in squid form, allowing you to hit above ledges like a squiffer! Mastering this technique is crucial. 5) Practice. Try sniping in areas you aren't familiar/comfortable with, experiment your timing of partial charges (they can kill and reach further than you'd expect!), play lame and patient if you have to, deal with pressure when you get cornered or losing, just full blown trial and error. This isn't an easy weapon to use, expect to lose a lot. Just know it's not impossible and don't let anyone discourage you otherwise. Your torpedo missile trick-tap shot spam is your gamer energy! Besides, I played this weapon for 3 years (custom var. in 2) and I'd like to think I got something out of it.. and now it's my time where I can finally info dump my knowledge to a weapon only 7 people play and take seriously!

Goo Tuber is my most used weapon in Splatoon 3 and was my favorite conceptually in 2. One mechanic I don't see mentioned often in regards to GT is that the charge-hold transform animation is really quick and cancellable, and pairing that with Squid Rolls for invincibility can make it an absolute nuisance to fight against if you don't handle it properly. The GT can provide a big threat, holding a charge and keeping evasive, and if a teammate plays off of it well and forces the opponents to split attention away from the GT they can be heavily punished for it. On the defensive, it struggles as most chargers do, but I think it's got more survivability than the others do with the quick charge hold animations - that it uniquely has. It's got a niche survivable style that can be played both aggressively and defensively, and while it's certainly not top tier, it's not the meme it used to be in the slightest, and if it had any special other than Tenta Missiles it's real strengths would've been noticed by now. Hoping the Custom kit gives it a decent sub and special combo that won't get the main completely ignored.

I disagree. I think it is a good combination. Point Sensor lets it snuff out hiding enemies (which it appreciates since it is still a charger) and helps with tracking. In Splatoon 1, Bubbler was an instant activate invincibility special. The only special better than it was Kraken. In Splatoon 2, it got Ink Armor... which gave it high survivability. It was also the best special in the game. Splatoon 3 is the first game where I think the special isn't good on it. Big Bubbler is a stationary special while the Squiffer is a very mobile weapon. Also, I fail to see how its kit makes it play passively. Since Point Sensor doesn't deal any damage, you can't rely on staying back to get your kills like you could with bombs. Bubbler was not a passive special, and it was _barely_ a supportive special. You _could_ give it to teammates, but it was used selfishly most of the time. Ink Armor isn't a passive special either. When Ink Armor is activated, it is the start of a push. As I mentioned before, Big Bubbler is the first special that it doesn't work with.

I mean, I’d like the next weapon select to be for the new weapons that were previously unmentioned in previous videos, like the carbon deco and slosher deco. At the very least, I’d like it to be the last weapon select until the next major update comes out. Besides the new weapons for weapon classes that were unmentioned (cause we didn’t know the weapons existed), I’d like Blasters to be the next weapon select video.

I feel like Snipewriter hits kinda under the scope. I don’t know how to explain it, but it feels like Line Marker.

I like the bamboo, but the sound effect with it makes it feel so weird, cause I land a direct and don't think I did and now I feel like they aren't gonna die, so I charge a larger shot for no reason, it feels so weird, it's not the biggest problem ever, but it's annoying

do squiffer tap shots paint better than goo? i play mostly salmon run and squiffer rarely gets in so i never get to try it out but i noticed goo paints real nice, especially if you sit up high somewhere like fish stick its way better at painting than alot of other chargerr

Goo has the best tap shot of all chargers

Is it a viable technique for the Goo Tuber to pause the charge, swim to dodge stuff, and continue like this multiple times until full? A sort of "main strafing"

gem kinda sucks at squiffoping (thats what i call squiffer jumping lol) you're supposed to high jump the same time you start the charge (or just two short hops)

just a question, ignoring its lack of full speed air charging, if it can get its one shot in around the same amount of time through partial charges, what keeps the goo tuber from acting like a walmart brand squiffer with a way better kit and a unique gimmick? the ability for it to hide its lazer as it swims up and partial charge a person thinking they were at a safe distance feels pretty valuable
@EvumeimeiDingzai Жыл бұрын
nothing! theyre basically the same tbh it just depends whether you like hopping or swimming. people are just biased against gootuber because squiffer had the better kits in splatoon 2
@lunamaster123 Жыл бұрын
Being able to charge full speed in the air is a more valuable gimmick than holding charges. Jumping makes you harder to hit, and Squiffer doesn't have a charge penalty when Squidrolling. Using the charge hold mechanic requires too much foresight and map control to use effectively. Hiding your laser isn't really an important attribute as most experienced chargers know how to peek and flick their shots.

For me the Snipwriter need a better special. I like sprinklers on chargers.
