I bought a Classic Vibe Thinline, put Bare Knuckles Flat 50's pickups in it, plus Gotoh tuners, and its a beautiful Tele to play. 👍❤❤🎶🎸

@@jonathancalhoun4853 just a few years back I would have preferred a Harley Benton for that money. it's astonishing. I remember times when everything under 800 wasn't even worth looking at. We live in great times when it comes to affordable instruments!

The one I tried was not great. Built cheap and feels cheap. Go a bit extra and get a Classic Vibe. But not the Troublemaker. Also aweful.

Put a twisted tele pup in the neck and a nocaster pup in the bridge and that thing will be a killer. Nice color! Edit: Didn't hear you say you had pickups to put in already.
@jonathancalhoun48532 ай бұрын
@@midwaymonster30 thank you very much. The Jason Isbell neck pickup is extremely similar to the Twisted Tele (it has the taller bobbin like a Strat pickup). I put them yesterday and they sound fantastic. I should have a full video up on them being installed later this week.

Pickups may help the sound, but not the feel and playability. The one I tested was not good !

How is the action with pressing down the strings to play? I'm very new and have a bad back and need a very very light electric guitar that's easy for me to press the strings and play.

Did you get any "hum"at all as i did own a mexican thinline back in the 2000 period but could never get away from the "hum" always had to keep my hand on the neck when i was not playing.
@jonathancalhoun4853Ай бұрын
@@MichaelStreet-r7v I did not have any hum other than the standard 60 cycle hum. It sounds like it may have been a grounding issue. I do recall when I swapped the pickups in this one after this video it was properly grounded. Sometimes the grounding wire can shake loose or wasn’t properly installed at the factory.
@MichaelStreet-r7vАй бұрын
@@jonathancalhoun4853 Thanks for the info Jonathan i did take it back to the guitar shop i bought it from but they said they had looked at it and said it was a normal "hum" that goes with a thinline tele. I have a couple of standard teles never had any problems with "hum". I thought your demonstration was very good and really covered everything we needed to know.
@jonathancalhoun4853Ай бұрын
@@MichaelStreet-r7v thank you, I appreciate it. I wish they would have taken the time to look into it. It may be a grounding issue, and it could possibly be a shielding issue as well. I believe searching KZbin on some reputable guitar repair channels might help you figure it out- and sometimes the fix is very simple.

Seriously ! I was checking out some player 2 telecasters the other day, and I picked up this very same guitar to try because I liked the look of it. I put it back after about 30 seconds because it felt like absolute trash. If you're only looking to spend this much, you'll get a better result elsewhere than Squier.
@michaelboldyga62392 ай бұрын
Really? And you knew within 30 seconds ! Where and what can I spend this much on that would be so much better ? For a cash strapped casual player or a beginner they could buy the Afinity and a pretty decent amp plus a set of locking tuners for the price of a MIM player 11 and still have a few bucks left for pizza and a 12 pack .
@brin572 ай бұрын
@@michaelboldyga6239 Yeah really ! Maybe look at Ibanez for starters, or Aria. Also, you don't need locking tuners. You're better off putting that $ towards even a Classic Vibe. Which is way better than an Affinity. I wasn't saying to get a Player II . That was just why I was in the shop. I am far from a guitar snob. My Tele is actually a made in China Classic Vibe black guard and I chose to keep it over the Player II. But do yourself a favor and don't buy an Affinity. They are built cheap and they feel cheap. Not a nice playing experience.
