"I'm not good at talking on these things" ...I hate to tell you this: but you're wrong. You're VERY good at talking on this video! You got all points across quickly, clearly and unambiguously, in a conpletely honest and believable way. I wish KZbin reviews were ALL as good as this.

Loved it, thank you! The jazziest Bullet Mustang demo on the web. Just subscribed. That's so cool that you're using acoustic strings on an electric! The resulting sound is considerably deeper and rounder than usual. Could you please share the brand of the strings? Also, could you please comment on the neck a bit? How does it feel? Is it finished? Thanks a lot! You inspire I think I'm gonna purchase this lovely model as well
@kennybluet55272 жыл бұрын
Appreciate it. They are D'addario phosphor bronze ( NOT 80 -- 20 which are way too bright ) 10 gauge acoustic strings . You're right about the tone--- almost a flatwound type tone but not as dull and they feel better. The neck seems to have a bit of stain on it . It's not glossy but it's not raw either. Very nice. I have another one that doesn't have as much on it . I also played one at GC recently which was completely bare , so it seems there all over the spectrum as far as that goes . The finger board is somewhat thin and scratchy when I got it . The frets also (scratchy ) . I remedied that by cleaning it with furniture grade steel wool then applying oil .Thanks for watching .

Sir, this is one of the best demos and reviews I've seen in the whole internet (I'm 33, and I've been here almost from the beginning), I'm not even joking or exaggerating, thank you for the close up on the guitar, and explaining the specs in a very straightforward manner, seriously. I wish Fender and other brands could give you their products so you could review/demo them, in your very honest approach. Plus, you're also a great player.

Thanks very much. "Sweet punches to the brain".I like that! I played in a few bands back in New York in the 1970s. In two of them we played original material. One of those bands opened for Leslie West in 1976. I don't know how old you are so you might not know that name. He was in a group called Mountain and they were big back then. But that was about my only brush with "the big time".

One of my favorite memories ever was driving all the way from North Carolina to Southern California and driving up Highway one to Santa Barbara after picking up my friends from LAX. We had samba Pa Ti all the way up in the windows down just in our mid 20s and living life to the fullest. Simpler times. Enjoyed the playing! Might buy me one of these and replace the bridge

I got one new here in the summer of 2024! I lucked out that they never sold out and it was the last one in the province here, they shipped it in. A great review as well and im warming up to the humbuckers. Not sure ill run acoustic 10's, as I was saying in a pervious comment here, interested in exploring various effects for kicks. I think its a keeper. I appreciate your smooth chill playing style.

@russell watkins yep. The clean tone is nice. I played this one at a gig last night and we do a bit of country. The middle position and bridge pickup are great for country . The neck pickup is suitable for jazz. What's good about these humbuckers is that they sound less muddy especially the neck. Th middle position sounds to me almost like a Strat. All that and no single coil hum .

Loved that - thanks. Interested to know why the acoustic strings. I play clean too, but would never have thought of that. Lovely playing, good video.
@kennybluet55272 жыл бұрын
I originally did it to see if it would help the guitars stay in tune better , which it seems to do. I kind of got used to the tone which to me sounds sort of like flat wounds .I also came to like th feel of them and the attack I get with them . They're also harder to play, which is a drawback for sure , but on the Mustang which is a 24 inch scale , whatever strings you put on will be less stiff than a Gibson (24.75 inch ) or most other Fenders or Squiers (25.5 inch). Thanks for the nice words . Glad you enjoyed.

Im pretty sure they were discontinued. However there are lots of used out there. Keep in mind that guitars this inexpensive can vary in quality and consistency . One might be better made than another. Although they no longet produce these , they have come out with a Squier Sonic Mustang , with a variety of colors and 2 different pikup types. I have one and i like it a lot. If you can , go to an actual store and play one. Good luck. Thamks for watching.

Hi. I just want to tell you that I really liked your "Samba pa ti" rendition. I think I like it better than the original, no kidding, it sounds better with less distortion. BTW, I have the same guitar, that's how I found your video. It's kind of a dirty cheap first electric for teens but man, it sounds good. Pretty "earthy" and resonant. I have 10s Slinkys on it.
@kennybluet55273 жыл бұрын
Wow! That is a very nice thing to say. I don't deserve it but thank you. I was about 15 years old or so when that song came out. I used to play it in a band in the late 1970s .Carlos Santana was one of my first guitar heroes and this song has always been special to me. Once again , thank you so much. It truly is a good guitar and I hope you enjoy it.

@@MikeJones-oe3do yes the shorter scale definitely affects it. It's 24 inch scale as opposed to a Telecaster which is 25 1/2. Much easier to bend on the Mustang. But I believe only the Squire Bullet has that length. Pretty sure every other Mustang has the 25 1/2.
