I think this guitar is designed for rock, you're playing licks made for a traditional Telecaster - my observation. Turn up the gain and hit some power chord riffs.

I bought one in white - beautiful finish with no flaws in this one. Replaced tuners, string trees and saddles. The neck is excellent with no sharp fret edges, the nut is cut perfectly and it plays very nicely. I may put in new pickups for a sweeter clean sound, but stock aren’t as uninspiring as you’ve described. Maybe you got a crummy one. I’ve had high dollar instruments that left me feeling flat, too, so I don’t blame this on price. With new pickups I dare say few would be able to tell by feel whether it’s a Squier or Fender.

The guitar is pretty. I love the color. The price seems high for a Squire. You can pick up MIM Teles and Strats used in like new condition for the same price or even less! Another thing is that it sounds nothing like a Tele. It needs a single coil option. Something like the rail humbuckers with a push pull switch so you can change from humbucker to single and still get that Tele sound if you want it. I'm thinking of one in my Strat bridge. Still gives the single look but you can get that humbucker "kick". Idk...just my humble opinion.

First of all, thank you for an honest review and demo and not just another bought and sold sales pitch, there are plenty enough of those on KZbin already. (You and Philip McKnight seem to be the only honest ones left out there) Fender should extend the Squire Vintage Modified line, I was very impressed with the 70s Vintage Modified Strat, the Duncan Designed pick-ups are awesome for stock. MUCH better than the stock PUs in a Mexican made Fender, no joke. A bass player friend of mine was also incredibly pleased with his Squire Vintage Modified 70s Jazz Bass as well, he owns 6-7 other bass guitars, ALL more expensive than the Squire and the Squire is his favorite. They need to focus more on the guitars coming out of Indonesia than China, in my opinion. I know tons of people love their Classic Vibe Squires, but personally, I have never played a Chinese Squire that was suitable for anything more than an absolute beginner, while Indonesian guitars seem to be getting better and better every year. I REALLY would like to see Squire come out with a Vintage Modified Tele with the standard tele pickup configuration, instead of those damned full range humbuckers. (NOT a fan) Anyway, that's just my opinion,... I'm done ranting now. Keep up the good work!

"blemish" I love your honest reviews. It looks pretty but with its flaws it is disappointing. Even a big name like Fender can make poop from time to time. Fender has been using Squier as its discount brand for decades. V. C. Squier Company had a rich hstory before they were purchased by Fender. Under Fender it continued to do so at least in the beginning. Then it moved its manufacturing to Japan in the 80's to compete with the lower priced Japanese models. Production eventualy moved to Korea, China and Indonesia. So the the level of quality may been effected by this also and factory conditions. Build quality can be hit and miss.

I'd love to review everything for you. I've got lots coming your way.

Blemish - I liked the review just the way it was - I wouldn't want you to change a thing, after all, we came here to hear and see what you (uniquely) really think. It was funny when you declared that neither Squire nor Fender paid you for this review, though - if they had, you would be nervous every time you heard a knock on the door! Rock-on, you champion.

Thanks Jonnie, They still have not paid me....

Blemish! I think you should still try to find a Tele with humbuckers if you want but that's up to you, but I'm digging the contemporary active stratocaster in white that they also put out in that range, it looks dope!

I need to try the active one

The reason you felt that the nut was set up so well compared to other squiers, was likely because of the neck radius itself. That radius always feels much better up at the top compared to other traditional fender radii.

great sound man..even humbacker pickup ,but get the clean tone still...squier by fender still have good sound.👍👍👍👍

What if you changed the bridge, pickups, and tuners? Wouldnt it perform like a solid guitar? Because the biggest reason someone would by it I guess is because of its cool finish.

The cool belly cut, strung thru body and well done neck make the pricing between the Affinity and CV justified. Yes $349 for this.

Heh Geek, since you don't really recommend this particular guitar, is there another Humbucker loaded Tele (with or without a single coil too), that you WOULD recommend at a similar price point? Cheers
@TheGuitarGeek5 жыл бұрын
I have to say that Harley Benton are killing it in this price range. Disclaimer- Thomann give me money to make videos but my opinions are free to be my own.

Are you going to try one of the new ones?

Blemish. I am confused as to why you didn't like the bridge or the tuners. I can understand being really pissed about the finish problem but are the bridge, tuners and pickups really so much better on a contemporary series model?
@TheGuitarGeek6 жыл бұрын
This is a contemporary model Dave. If you mean the classic vibe, yes it is that much better
@noseyparker66226 жыл бұрын
Yes i meant to type classic vibe there not contemporary......it was bloody hard work to type out a long wrong word with a slight hangover as well. Thanks for replying.
@TheGuitarGeek6 жыл бұрын
No worries Dave. I'm impressed when anyone with a hangover achieves anything

I'm surprised it was so blemished. I would love a double humbucker telecaster - any suggestions?

Just tried this one out and the Affinity HH FSR one. Maybe I'm just used to the 12" radius and satin neck in general, but the contemporary felt waay better. The Affinity just felt like something I'd expect from a $150 low-end Bullet guitar, and the Contemporary was like what I've expected for $300. Sure, it needs better hardware and pickups but if you need those out of the box you might just spend $800 on it from the start.
