Timeless guitar's man. I just picked up a lefty today for 50 bones u s. It's been played as a righty for a bit it seems. I'll say, even with the old rusty strings, it sounds amazing. With the right nut and setup, it'll sound amazing. These day's you pay a lot of money for a quality stratocaster like these. The saddles alone, I already made my money back. The big points on this guitar are, steel saddles, nice feeling neck, 9.5 neck radius, 2 point trem, decent thickness body, alnico pickups and a decent paint job. Not bad!

I just got a used one shipped to my door for $85. I made a bone nut for it, changed the pickguard, and put grover locking tuners on it for a grand total of $170. I also rewired it with pots etc I had laying around. It sounds and plays great. The pups apparently were changed, but I have no I idea what they are.

My first guitar ever was a red one of these back around 1998 or something. These are really great guitars both visually and tone wise. What do you think? I kind of wonder how different tonally they are to the Classic Vibe stuff. These pickups sounded pretty legit! I don't know what those cost in Australia, but here in Germany, you can find them new online all day long for around 230 euros. The Deluxe is the one with the upgraded tuners and Duncan Designed pups. They also have the smaller headstock. The playability is really amazing on these things. I dont know why the average KZbinrs always lean towards the Vintage Modified or Classic Vibe as the higher end of the line. I have a Vintage Mod Tele, and while I like it, the playability is nothing like the Deluxe Strat. It's just one of those guitars that when you pick it up, you know you've got something special in your hands. Thanks for doing the demo!! Bob in Germany

The “gold series” can also be found on the Squire Affinity series guitars and I believe these may be a nicer guitar than the “black” series Affinity… I haven’t seen a “black” (label) series “Standard” squier as yet however they may possibly exist? I just bought TWO standards and love the two point tremolo system, pickups, full size bodies and feel of the necks… they’re really great guitars! 🙂👌👍

These are great guitars for the money. The more I play it the more I like it. I have the same finish (Antique Burst), at first I thought the tortoise pickguard looked OK, but soon disliked it. Read that others replace it with an aged White pearl pickguard - I did the same; it looks fantastic. The bridge PuP is very bright, so I wired it to the lower tone pot to get some control over it. If you like a bright jangly chimey Strat, this is the one. It is also a good platform for future upgrades if desired.

I have 3 of these. I love them, but I think the pickups are a little on the icepick side for me. I replaced them with Stew Mac Golden Age Ceramics in one guitar and A used set of Duncan Designed pickups from the Squier deluxe model. I took one set of the Standard Pickups and repositioned the posts to match the fret board radius and rewired it with a master tone and volume and a neck bridge blend and put it in an affinity strat and they sounded great. My last standard I am going to add a Prail set in them.

Nice Shane!! Great content. Great playing!! Sounds good. That tremolo works great once you get everything lubricated. The radius is great too. I have an older one in trans red with no poly finish. It's got a red headstock too. I changed the string trees and put locking tuners cause one of the originals fell apart. Cheap upgrades. I set it up like the Italian guy ,Fedua, on KZbin. Played many songs on it . I really like the neck. Super versatile. It was such a deal. Praise the Lord!!! 130$.

Well I got one in 2017. Im a lefty to. This guitar will never leave me. you cant get one now for around $650 up. I paid $250 new in 2018 for a 2017. I think that was the end of them. I put on graphtec locking tuners, Geaphtec Nut, Roller trees and Roller saddels. Mojotone wireing and pots with tone bleader, put in some SRV Hot Texas pickups. In the looks department I put a black peraloid pick guard, Black every thing but my trim plate. The only thing I would like to do now is replace that trim plate and add a good steel or brass trim block. Im having a hard time finding a lefty trim block. If you know where I may find one at a good price please let me know. I would be so thankful. All I can say is I love that guitar more every day! ....... PS I am really glad I found your Chanell. Man, just waiting on my springs and ill be able to see if i can get my 01 squier back into playing condition. Its had a super rough life. Got it new when i was a kid, played it a ton for a number of years but life and other things got in the way. Its beat to hell, has a chunk missing in the body, etc but its mine damnit. Its also miswired. from the factory. I haven't ever pulled the pick guard off to see whats wrong but the volume knob functions as an overall tone control. Honestly i kinda like it that way.

They're a good price for what they are. Some of those strat clones do have interesting pickups in them. First guitar I owned was a Ranger strat copy (still have it in various states). Because I didn't know any better at the time, I thought I needed to upgrade the pickups. After doing so I realised the ones that were in there were more my style (they were a thicker wider pickup a bit like a tele) and I much preferred them over a vintage set. They also had an interesting construction having a metal base plate and shielding around the coil - you don't even get that on an Fender. So cheap is not necessarily bad.

Squier appear to have dropped the Standard from their current line up. That's a pity, it was a great guitar for the price; block saddles, two point floating tremolo, satin neck. The Classic Vibe Strats appear to one of their most popular range, and the price seems to have come down. Might try a CV down the line. Some say the vintage six screw tremolo is not so good, others say it's fine when properly set up 🤔.

I wondered why my 2007 Indonesian had gold lettering headstock and the others of the same year but identical had black logos and so I took the pickguard off and mine had Alnico pickups with 500k posts.. So far from all my research that's why mine has the gold logo because of the alnicos and the others with the black logos had ceramic, and the price difference was $200 more for the alnicos but this is before they introduced the classic vibe series (correct me if I'm wrong) so I'm thinking I have an early classic series before they were called classic vibe series..

I've got one of these and a mim, whist the build quality of the mim is better, materials etc, the pickups in the squire are better imo or truer to the classic strat sound at least. My mim sounds much warmer and not necessarily better. The squire also has 22 frets and a 2 point trem, although the trem system isn't the same 2 point as is found in the USA strats and the block is much thinner than the mim. Overall, tonally it beats the mim imo but loses out in every other area, build quality, materials and most importantly playability. Atm I'm favouring it over the mim due to the tone and considering putting the squiers pups in the mim. Who'd a thought it!!!

I spent $119 on a Fender Bullet Strat with an Fender Squier 15 Watt amp 8" speaker, gig bag, strap, spare set of Fender Bullet strings and it is good enough. Early this year I spent $249 on a 'Gold" label Fender Affinity Telecaster that included a good Fender Frontman 15 Watt 8" speaker amp, gig bag, cable, strap and Fender Electric Tuner. There are websites that are selling new full sized Fender Stats for $119 right now today! Musician's Friend is one such web-site. Money is tight for me right now so I need the very best bargain prices.

no mention of the more modern 2pin style bridge with saddles, I might be wrong but I don't think you get that kind of upgrade on a Mexican.

CV if you're after a bluesy tone and the Standard if you tend towards classic hard rock tones. There's plenty of crossover for sure but that's the general vibe of each guitar.

Gold lettering for Squier doesn't actually mean anything, I have a couple of the cheaper affinity series and they both have gold lettering whereas my Vintage Modified Tele has black lettering even though it's the better quality guitar
