Yeah, 'love' them dude. Not be obsessed by them, dream of them every night, hide them in your cupboards, under the stairs - the floorboards probably I wouldn't be surprised in your case. Then again, it's all good. When I buy my next Jazzmaster, you will be the man I contact first, so not complaining. Ryan got a great sound out of this instrument. It's definitely a classic and I can see people fall so much in love with this instrument. It's up there in its own right with the strats and teles.

I purchased after market, genuine Fender Mustang saddles and they work great. Strings don't pop out. These are a mere fraction of the cost for a Mastery bridge. The tremolo arm needed a firm push to seat in its friction collar under the bridge plate (visible in a few online bridge drawings and images). After seating, the arm never fell out again. Additionally, one could disassemble the bridge and tighten the friction collar set screw. I did not needed to do this though. These solutions are readily available through online guitar communities.

I found this older video of yours as you suggested. Mine is the exact same one - finish and all but no Mastery Bridge. That’s ok, I didn’t need it. No buzzing strings or tuning problems using my 9 gauge strings! I love the pickups also and find myself using the rhythm circuit over half the time when I want to emulate a humbucker sound - amazing! Fit and finish on mine was just like yours - straight from the factory. I have gigged with it several times and people tell me they like the sound. This guitar is an incredible value overall.

I have the identical guitar. I used to play a Fender Jazzmaster in a band in the early 70s and, yes, that damn bridge would get the best of me at times. I eventually traded for a Les Paul. Wish I had them today cause I can’t afford to buy either one now. Still, the Jazzmaster was my first electric guitar and I was so happy when Squire came out with this one....a Jazzmaster that when I play it, I’m 19 years old again. I replaced the bridge and everything is great. And you’re right, Squire makes a great guitar.

I just bought this exact Jazzmaster in Sonic Blue for $260 off eBay. It was in mint condition, came with a Staytrem Mustang Bridge and the previous owner had already copper shielded the pickguard and inner cavity. I set it up with Ernie Ball Cobalt's in 10s, also replaced the pots. It plays like a dream. I read that the bodies and necks are made in the Corona Factory, and then sent to Indonesia for assembly. I would say that is probably correct, after getting my pots switched out at The Guitar Center I saw the identical Surf Green Fender Jazzmaster MIM version for $1099.00 on the rack and I did a side by side comparison through a Fender Twin Reverb and the Squire certainly felt better in my hands and over all sounded much better. Maybe the Duncans in mine that are stock were the key there as Fender MIM version comes stock with Dual single-coil American Vintage ’65 Jazzmasters. Overall, if you are concerned about the Squire Sticker on the head stock, put that thought to rest, these Vintage Modified guitars are great

I've just got a squier Jazzmaster. Neck is 2012, HH scratchplate and body is refinished so it's maybe a bit of a partsmaster. Staytrem bridge is ok, but the squier trem unit was vague and notchy. I bought a fender Japan trem and that mostly sorted it. Had to enlarge the slot to make the lock work and I really like the lock.

The rhythm switch is made to sound like a jazz guitar the jazzmaster was meant to be for jazz players became more popular on surf songs, but the shape of the jazzmaster is also meant to feel more comfortable when sitting with it like how jazz players sit and play. Joe pass played a jaguar for a short bit of time but it really could never compete with the Gibson L5 jazz guitar. I owned the 2,000 dollar 62 jazzmaster and sold it biggest regret ever but glad to see this Squier definitely wanting this guitar now.

You can mod the shit out of the rhythm circuit, i like it but it gets much more useful, also if you gig with it consider upgrading the trem, if you break a string there is a mechanism that puts you in tune again, otherwise you'll finish the song totally out. Regarding what you said about the Mexican line: well, these days, a Mexican Vintera 60's Jazzmaster Modified is about $1,000. I thought that's the entry level price for the American made Fenders. Guess not. Check out the Classic Vibe line: bone nuts, Fender alnico pickups and bodies made out of woods other than basswood.

On strats, the reason the tremolo arm drops and flops is that it is probably missing the spring that goes in the tremolo arm mounting hole. Like yours, my VM Jazzy does not have that issue either.

I've had this guitar since August last year and I fucking love it. It was my first off set Fender guitar and I just love how Squier nailed the vintage look and the playability, all the way from the neck down to the pickups (pickup cred to Seymour Duncan though). The pickguard on mine looks like poop but I got that replaced for a really cheap price so. But I hate the fact that you said that the tremolo system was great for you, because that's one of the things I've been having issues with and wanted to ask if you think it would be a nice upgrade with a Fender version of it instead? See.. my problem has been the trem arm, that it just can't hold its ground and pops out everytime. I push it in till it clicks and it holds for a smooth and careful use, but if I start swinging it like you in this video.. it just drops to the floor. Literally. And I got a deal from my local luthier to get a Fender trem system (relic version btw but new) for about 30 dollars installed and ready to go. I think it could be a cool upgrade but what are your thoughts on it? The bridge I actually replaced with the ones on the VM Mustangs and those work out really nice for me :) But I do not understand why they call them "Vintage Modified" when they don't modify out those horrible bridges! XD Great video bro, keep em' coming :) Oh and btw, the shirt is awesome!

Dude, you probably got a lemon. One of the things that I really love about my Jazzie, is that it NEVER goes out of tune. Ever. I ve even tried going crazy with the tremolo arm, and nill. Nothing. Rock solid. Try applying some pencil to the nut the next time you change strings. Sometimes, having a shitty cut nut will ruin the whole setup for you. I m telling you man, the tremolo system and the kluson style open top tuners on these guys are pretty legit. Oh, and dont go lighter than .10s
@Wabin22
@Wabin22 6 жыл бұрын
Ah shoot I never got a notice on these responses :O Sorry for the delay! Well I probably got a bad lemon like you said, because this tremolo was not solid at all, and my local luthier checked it and agreed. But I got a good bargin on a reliced Fender tremolo system for it instead and now it's damn rock solid ;) I do have 9's on it because I have two diseases on my fingers so I simply can't play thicker strings, but it works awesome for me and with this guitar :)

Hey man, I want your opinion on the new Offset models by Fender. They basically took off what made those models famous, and made "more functional" and simple, OK, I get it. But they took off the ability of the owner to customize and play with all the knobs and switches from the Mustang, JazzMasters and Jaguars. I'm really NOT into that series. I'm not a purist, but I think they became dull guitars... BTW, I'm emailing you the guitar I built from scratch for the contest!! Speak soon!

Very interesting thank you. I have the same guitar and mastery Bridge. Great guitar, sound, price etc. One little problem though...my high e string slowly unravels from the ball end of the string. Until the string comes off. Every time. I have a theory that this is because this set-up by nature has very VERY little string break-angle at the tailpiece (not a through-the-body design obviously, which has plenty of break-angle). Praytell, have you had/are having this same problem?

I have a HH Jazzmaster and it was soooo buzzy, so I swapped out the bridge for one from Staytrem. It's superb, works like a charm and fixed everything. Although I wonder, if the Staytrem fixes all of the previous problems, will the difference between it and a Mastery be noticeable?

I have 2 jazzmasters. 1 has a staytrem and one has a mastery. I’ve had the staytrem on my JM for about 2 years and it does the trick well enough. Every once in a awhile I’ll knock the low e off the groove but 99% of the time is more than chill. I just put a mastery bridge on my other JM and it’s noticeably louder and I can FEEL the guitar vibrating and sustaining much louder and longer. I’ve been playing JMs for about 8 years now and I’ll probably buy more mastery bridges in the future.

Super misleading video title. The VM Jazzmaster is quite different from the Classic Vibe, even when you take into account the replaced bridge. The CV is made of a different wood, the fretboard material is different, and it had different pickups. Almost literally every single part is different. Yeesh.
@markferguson3745
@markferguson3745 4 жыл бұрын
Yup.A lot of people are confused by all the various designations, and it makes a big difference.The VM has a lot of weaknesses,- bridge, pickups,- and the necks always seem out of whack, like they're not set high enough, or the bridge is too high in relation,- SOMETHING.It makes them innately dead and flat sounding.My least favorite Squier design.I find the VM's generally inferior ,even to Affinity's.

@SaxJockey
@SaxJockey 4 жыл бұрын
What weight are we talking? My Squier Standard Strat is 7lb 15oz, I understand the JM is heavier, maybe due to the shallow cutaways. Heaviest guitar I ever had (and sold) was an Epiphone Les Paul Standard at 9lb 10oz.
