Did you ever dream of having a four-string bass that gives you the classic P Bass sound with the snappiness of a J Bass bridge pickup? Give this bass a listen and see what you think! This bass features an Agathis body ( not maple), maple classic 'C' neck with a Laurel fretboard, a classic P Bass pickup and a ceramic J Bass pickup as well as a heavy mass bridge. A lightweight bass with a big tone!
Thanks for watching!

i picked up one of these back in 2017 as my first bass. have since upgraded it with a noiseless dimarzio area p+j set and a hipshot xtender. absolute joy of a thing to play.

I still have mine in Lake Placid Blue, it is a great instrument. It has a great high mass bridge that came on the bass along with very solid sounding precision and jazz bass pickups. The Vintage Modified line was a great series I also have the 70s jazz bass in natural. Only thing so changed out were the factory strings for a set of Ernie Ball slinky strings. It holds it’s own even with my Fender Vintera 50s precision bass. I recommend it if you can find one.

I had mine listed on CL recently. I plugged it in yesterday and was blown away at how great it sounded, and I was immediately grateful that no one had bought it. What was I thinking!? A few years ago I got mine used, but in pristine condition, with hard case for $160. Finding it a bit neck-heavy, I opted for Res-o-lite reverse bass tuners. Then I swapped the pickguard for a white one. So for a total of $280, I have a beautiful, killer bass.

Joe Sedita I have this exact bass, lake placid blue, bought it from guitar center online without ever playing it, however I was not disappointed with this precision bass!!! I needed a Precision bass to add to my stable and this is a fine instrument, regardless of the price, which was a steal for $300. However, there was a sale going on due to the holidays and got it brand new for $240. Tonal versatility with incredible playability!!!

This is a great, honest and informative review, thank you. Whoever bought this bass made a very good move. Squier did discontinue this bass (colour scheme), but only last week (March 2021) they have reintroduced it. BUT they no longer lacquer the headstock, leaving it in an unfinished raw state, and it looks terrible. All Squier Affinity PJ basses (since 2019) have unlacquered fingerboards/headstocks (they have introduced a couple of maple fingerboards on the all black and white/black models), in an attempt to nudge potential buyers up to the Fender Performer PJ bass (fully lacquered, exquisite maple fingerboard) for a cool $/£1000. It's so annoying. The Squier Vintage Modified series was amazing. If you have one of these basses, hold onto it! Its successor, the Affinity PJ series, still produces really excellent basses, the tonal variety and playability at this price point is mind-blowing. But the finish is a shadow of what it was. I wish I could have have had this bass you were selling. Anyway, bass chat is always fun!

@@joeseditamusic Actually I was wrong on one point. The current Classic Vibe series is the successor to the Vintage Modified series. The CV basses are outstanding, and give the Fender Player series a real run for the money, although it can be hit or miss what you get from the factory. The CV series could do with some new finishes too, the current ones are a bit dull. Again, I guess Fender don't want to make them too interesting at that price point, to encourage us to spend more cash for the Mexican or Californian instruments, which are certainly beautiful and really well constructed.

@@shawnlennon1947 I did, eventually. I used some brown shoe polish and some clear lacquer spray, several coats of each. Came out a nice dark tan semi-gloss finish for the whole neck. Relic'd the white Squier Affinity PJ body and sprayed the black pickguard a matt gold. Worth the effort and I learned some handy skills.

I have a bass like this one. I think I have a problem when I plug in to my amp or interface. There always seems to be some awful “humming” sound. I did some research and apparently it’s a shielding problem. Did you ever need to shield your bass or has it always been quiet in terms of humming?
@joeseditamusic
@joeseditamusic 3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t have any abnormal noise issues with mine . They are single coils so some noise is to be expected. You could get some copper shield tape off of eBay for cheap and put that under the pickgaurd to try and help. Take care!

You might check to see if the ground wire came loose or the soldering came off. That would cause a bunch of noise.

@@catuab4Yes! That happened with my mine and I’m completely stumped on fixing it! I’m considering just buying a better bass so I don’t have to deal with it but if the sound comes back, do you happen to know what causes it? Grounding issue? Is the bass or amp?
