I'm impressed you pronounced "mischievous" correctly--most people add an "i" after the "v". Why would Butters want to live out in the wild on his own? He gets a warm house with good food and cuddles and freely roams the house anyway. It's not an easy life being out--you have to fend for yourself, find food, escape from predators, and worry about traffic.

So true. He’s much safer and well fed staying with you. Thanks for saving him. I once stopped in the middle of the street to avoid hitting a cat. A woman pulled up next to me at the traffic light to thank me for avoiding the cat. I’ll never forget. These days, common decency makes us heroes. I would never intentionally hit an animal much less hunt with weapons.

If Butters lives in certain states in the USA, his humans would not be allowed to keep him. Check out Peanut in NY. Same thing applies to where i live now, in Virginia. I would advise keeping him off social media, or else the wildlife cops will come and (at the best) take him away.
