Our Australia Shepherd would give a squirrel a good run in the tenacious and problem solving department. She's just not good at climbing trees. I've been entertained by her attempts to outwit the rabbits under the lawn tool shed. She's watched how the main rabbit reacts then tries a counter-measure. But rabbits aren't stupid either, as they can quickly adapt to the new tactics. Animals are amazing.

@@LyneisFilm Interesting! We can have as many as a dozen in our backyard, and we usually make them come take peanuts from our hand. In the end squirrels are more interesting than birds. I mean it's cool to feed birds, but you can't get to know them "personally" as you can squirrels, squirrels are just easier to identify individually (at least for me). Different individuals have highly different behaviors, while also sharing highly similar traits. Like they almost all approach our hand-feeding "station" (a chair set right outside our patio slider) in a stylized and predictable manner that I assume is based on some innate "strategic reasoning" about what makes a path "safer," while at the same time they are perhaps easiest to keep track of (given how quickly/frequently their fur color changes) by behavior: some are timid, some are bold, some are aggressive and grabby, some take peanuts gently, etc.

His ability to learn, was far above any domestic animal that I've ever seen. He was free to patrol my home, and yes, he did patrol it he did. He also used his litter box, learned to catch, and do other tricks with few lessons. When Jerry matured, he longed to be free. We lived in the mountains, and the tree where he was blown from, was just outside my window, so giving him his freedom without worry, was pretty easy. I saw and fed him nearly every day. He had lot's of friends and also found a partner. Animals are a blessing to this sometimes, crazy world. Blessings and love.

Well done, Claude and Wimpy! I find my squirrels endlessly entertaining as they, too, try to get into the bird feeders. In fact, I like them so much that I allow access to certain ones!

Well Claude this one made my wife and I smile and laugh to. So good how you did this, they sure are clever. The"Squirrel Cafe" was a nice touch. We thought it was great that you both don't mind them coming around and turn it into a friendly game. We thought this was just great to watch. Well done mate all the way from Brisbane Australia!!

Loved the idea of the squirrel cafe. I have house sparrows visiting the 4 feeders I have put up in my front yard which were soon noticed by a squirrel too. The squirrel had easy access to all 4. And would devour the feeds faster than the sparrows would. I've now dedicated one of the feeders to the squirrel which is also shared by rose-ringed parakeets. This new feeder has sunflower seeds and the remaining three use foxtail millets meant for sparrows.

WONDERFUL, what elegance and intelligence is displayed by both the physicist and his opponent the squirrel. They are both WORTHY OPPONENTS and What CLASS is displayed by the Physicist as he graciously concedes the contest to his fellow creature with whom he shares the wonders of their home, PLANET EARTH. Well done both of you.

We don't have a squirrel problem. My husband fills the feeder every morning and throws seed all over the patio for the ground feeders, squirrels and rabbits. Everybody's happy. The next morning everything is gone, and he starts over. No problem.

Glad I saw this after seeing the other vid. I was gonna say, "Just feed your damn squirrel too!" Lol, cus we have a neighborhood one, Chitters, who is happy to leave the crow plate be as long as there are peanuts for her! She takes them from my dd's hand now too. She sometimes even sits on the porch waiting for us. I swear she'll be knocking on the door soon! LOL!

The little guy deserves a good meal, he has earned it. We have a bunch of Yellow Pine Chipmunks where we live. They're great, extremely smart and friendly. One little guy jumped in my lap when I was napping looking for his morning meal. They come running when they see my truck, knowing they will get a handful of peanuts.
