From AUS here, I have a green one (short body) - converted to the 1.5L engine (A15), they weigh around 750kg (usually just less) - great little car, great community surrounding them too

I got bumped by one of these as a kid. I think that's why I've grown to love it so much, also I'm a Nissan fan. In South Africa we call those Nissan 1400 bakkies. - pronounced "bucky", our word for pickup. Good job and great video guys. Love from the Mother City - Cape Town!

Beautiful pickups. Both look utterly clean. 👍 It's actually a really popular chassis here in South Africa. They were built right up to '08, called the Nissan 1400, sold as a "cheap workhorse". But it's a cult-classic here and really popular with 1/4 mile racers. Commonplace to see an engine conversion done on them, or running 9s at the drag strip. Recently saw a video of one that had what sounded like a 2JZ conversion done to it...

@@chadmeyer446 aaah the luxury option with 2 seats and a tacho😜 I only had the normal 1400 that I installed electronic ignition on and a 4 into 1 banana branch and a Weber downdraft carb. Made all the right noises and could hit 180km/h🤣 went all the way to the H of KM/H

We had 3 of them in the family..i personally had a nissan deluxe 1400 with the two single seats rather then the bench seat they used to come out with. Brilliant little workhorses..winter time used to be fun driving them with the choke pulled all the way out and it 'sneezed' until it warmed up.🤣

In South Africa we have some of the best in the world, We got both Datsun and the Nissan 1400. The guys run anything from Rotarys, 1UZ, 3UZ, 2JZs, SR20DETT, CBR1000, Mazda EGi you name it. Although the stock 1400 engine can handle turbo with Uno Turbo injectors and max at around 110kw and 270nm before you need to upgrade to 350cc injectors. But yes even that little 1.4 turbo goes like stink

I was in Cyprus a couple of years back and saw one of those near Paphos I had to stop and have a look at it as I’d never seen one before it was totally standard and a work truck in white but in immaculate condition , I love them think there truly cool and these two are magnificent 👌

I had the same pick up here in South Africa and it was called the Datsun 1400,, what a tough pick up the only problem was the rocket shaft on the cylinder head. But know I drive the Ford bantam with the Rocam engine and tough as hell

The white one is absolutely perfect down to the smallest detail. I don't like the seats and big flat steering wheel on the black one, but the sr20 would make choosing between the two quite difficult. These sunny toras are the shit anyway, one of the coolest little trucks ever made☠️

How does a pickup share the name of a compact sedan??? The sunny is also the jdm sentra.. The usdm 200sx is the jdm lucino which is a sunny coupe... At least on the b14 chassis anyways... The b14 sentra se and 200sx se-r both got the sr20de with the lsd 5spd... These little trucks are so cool... Awesome collection in that garage...

Cool cars. Out here in Australia they are called Datsun 1200. Common conversion is the sr20 but have seen them with rotary’s in them. Would like to own one but with my 6’5 frame it would be a tight squeeze.

Yeah still lots around In Aus but hard to find without some form of rust. Plenty of aftermarket patches and full panels available. They go great with a small snail hanging of the side.

I'd take a long body, then move the cab rear wall back 100 mm. That'd be the only way I'd fit in either car. Back in the 1990's a friend did this to a short bed, along with a supercharged A15, a Toyota 5 speed & a LSD in a H165 rearend. It was the only 1200 ute i ever fit in. It also had 300 mm front discs with twin spot calipers on 810 struts up front, discs from a 910 Bluebird, & might even have been the original single circuit brake master cylinder. The Datsun 1000 ute is even smaller & narrower. I can't even get in the door of one of those. Love both cars, by the way. At least with the B310 Sunny's, I fit reasonably well. So I have a couple of them. The reason for the long model life was that they never came up with anything comparable as a small work truck. As has been mentioned, they were built even later in South Africa, for the same reason.

This is so cool and im doing something similar. I've been working on my truck for almost a year now its a 1997 nissan pick up bagged and im gonna put a sr20det engine in it. I bought my truck for 1200 dollars and wen I got it it literally was a piece of crap now its mint i bagged it and cleaned it up real nice and im gonna start the motor swap soon. The original engine in it only had 83k original miles on it! I rebuilt everything minus the engine and trans cause well im swapping it anyways.

The Datsun 1200 came in 4 different versions. All available in Aus and NZ. This pickup was sold in South Africa until 1993 as they said and was called the Nissan “Bakkie” •pickup (ute) •sedan •coupe •saloon (wagon)
