SR20 SWAPPED 1969 DATSUN 510 RAT ROD DREAM BUILD

BUILD CARS TO DRIVE THEM. That’s exactly what Zach Dunn did with his 1969 #Datsun510 that he’s had for over 10 years. The same #SR20 swap has been in it since he did it 10 years ago and the car has evolved around the engine. Flares, all new suspension, all new bushings, gauges, and a retro / vintage vibe has remained with the build. This is one of those cars that you can’t help but smile when you look at because the mission is to be driven. Not win shows, not get famous, and not impress anyone. I have a 2 door 510. It is my dream car I have been wanting one for 13years since I originally had my first datsun 620. Mine has been stripped down to a shell for paint and body and it has been overwhelming since I know nothing about body work and seems like such a big undertaking, Mine is probably in pretty similar shape to this one. I think this video has inspired me to say F it and do a fauxtina paint job on it.

My mom had a blue 2 door 1969 510 with black 4 spoke rims. I loved that car but I was just a kid. Years later I found out that it had a blown head gasket, she paid a local "mechanic" but he stole the car and money and shipped the car to Maui. I couldn't believe she didn't pursue it but back then it wasn't worth much like now. That lost car and her lost record collection are my greatest childhood memories and loses.

You should do a shop-walk for this guy's vehicles.. I have a couple of BMWs, a couple of trucks, and a few 510s. I was hoping you would show his Green Datsun pickup that was on the lift and his white BMW.. He really has some great vehicles..

Awesome car! Got a 1970 510 myself (or called a 1600 here in Australia}. Always liked the old rectangle dash like this, it has a much more classy look imho. Before I found mine I always thought the ‘69’s we're the last ones with them but mine still has the old dash as well.

Great 510, they have everything that I like in a boxy 70's car. My new dream ride is a 510 with wide body M3 blister fenders. And a modified raised deck lid with integrated rear spoiler . My first Datun was a 77 280Z that was stolen back in 1980. I got the itch again and thanks to shows like this my vision is clear . The only option may be to do a wagon with the same wide body kit.

In my country they were named Datsun 1600. We had 4-door models only with column manual shift. There was a 1600SSS dual-carb with floor shift. VERY few are left today. And installing an SR20 Turbo would have been no problem, as our cars are RHD. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

DUDE!!! I thought that car seemed familiar.... I've seen it bombing around Lk. Stevens a couple times. Great spot for a photo shoot just off/under Hwy. 2 trestle between Everett & South Lk. Stevens. That area tends to flood every now and then. I'm from S. Everett, and used to work in downtown Lk. Stevens, so I've seen that car a few times over the last 5 or 6 years. Also, was that a bluebird??

I want to know from the guys who knows, if it is possible to fit a Toyota 2y engine and gearbox in a Toyota Avanza. The Toyota Avanza engine is 1500 engine is underpower according to my standard. I am prepared to pay for the information.
