So I think SRAM is also a lot more finicky to setup and keep shifting smooth. Maybe AXS fixes some of that but I'm not thrilled with my GX setup. Needs the most attention of any parts on my bike.
@jackmorrissey53185 жыл бұрын
Brian Vaughn I got the axs and have to say it shifts way smoother than mechanical and you get the same shift every time. Also you don‘t have to worry about wear and tear and you don‘t get noisy cables and no cable stretch is included

It's nice to hear an impartial review,I had SRAM GX Eagle and now Shimano XT 12v, how I missed the changing gear under load with such precision.

I like the tactile feedback from shimano's mechanical shifting as well! It's like flipping switches on a speeder bike. hahaha.

Nice review. I've had a SRAM GX drivetrain for a few years now (Love Shimano Brakes though). I've been content enough, but with Shimano starting this new shift under load setup...man, I like the sound of that! Just bang through the gears. Concerning electronic shifting, My bet is that it will get better over time and eventually be the standard on just about all bike ranges.

Pedaling Dave I have nothing against GX! It shifts as good as xx1 Eagle! My issue is that price doesn’t match performance at The top tier of their product line. They all feel the same 😂

Very interesting take on wireless components! Thanks.

Not sure if you've tried this but I've found sintered pads to give guide's a big upgrade in power while still keeping most of their modulation. Could make them more than ok for you.

Whistler Skier i have in the past. Nothing really made them grab like I would’ve liked them too

I own AXS and XTR and I agree. AXS is not a new group as the chain and cassette aren't designed for shifting loaded.

Shifting under load has been something that I wish Sram would get better at. Makes difficult climbs easier to clean. What do you think of Magura brakes?
@alexthemtbr5 жыл бұрын
Wayde Bowker haven’t ridden Magura brakes for awhile now. I would love to try the mt5’s With the new levers

Thanks for honest opinion. Looks like top of the line or middle product the thoughts are the same. I am happy owner of GX 12 speed but I hate it sometimes mess up under the pressure, maybe I will try XT when Gx will die. When I started mtb I was riding on shimano all the time but that was before clutches was on the market and I hated the chain was jumpig and falling of on the downhills in my hardtail. The same with brakes the Guide RS works ok, nothing special and nothing bad, can get them with good price.

Maciej Ziobro honestly the only advantage you are getting by going for a nicer Sram Groupset than GX is a little bit of weight savings. So in my opinion, getting the X01 cassette is the only real upgrade to shave a significant amount of weight. The rest of the Groupset really doesn’t change much. I still think GX is solid for the price for sure. Just the higher end gets underwhelming for the price.

I bought an Evil Following with Shimano Di2 already on it. I'd never go back to ordinary cable shifting ever again. If I ever sell the bike, the groupset is coming with me...lol.

I was hesitant with getting AXS due to the cost but I now have two bikes with it. only one AXS dropper. Can’t see how you can criticize the dropper. The derailleur and shifting maybe but not the dropper. Something just doesn’t seem right about this review. I’m 50 years old and have been riding since I was a kid on many many bikes and in recent years both Shimano & SRAM. NX up to XX1 & AXS. Shimano only Deore SLX & XT. Would love to try XTR maybe that’s what I’m missing. Anyway, they both work really well and I really don’t see all this bias like yours toward one brand. I’m not a hater of either. All about personal preference I guess. I prefer a SRAM drivetrain and Shimano Brakes but I would be happy and content with either. Sorry but this is just not a good review.

SRAM is Trash/Junk and Shimano is King! Try replacing the Parts on the new SRAM AXS Eagle wireless group set, will cost one 5 times more than XTR M9100 12 Speed group! Shimano will outlast SRAM in Longevity and durability!
@RiderP4115 жыл бұрын
On the transmission yes, but this generation's shimano brakes are garbage, I tried the xtr 4 pistons brakes, bite points constantly changing with every bump you go through. A top of the line shimano brake that's so inconsistent that makes you think you're on Avid E3 brakes.

In my opinion Shimano in overall is much more clunky than Sram

Alex Chamberlin not an opinion it’s an actual fact. You’re just a deluded shimano fan boy that’s only ever used shimano and doesn’t really know what they’re talking about but whatever enjoy your plastic thumb shifters, random bite point brakes and cheap stamped cheese metal cassettes. 😂

Your the first reviewer !! Out of all the reviews done on XO1 & XX1 that doesn't like it ! So why do a review ? When you had no intention of reviewing with out bias ! Poor review Alex !!!! 👎
@alexthemtbr5 жыл бұрын
Andrew Greenwood first reviewer to not like it. But a bunch of my friends and colleagues don’t like it... I had intentions of loving the product. If it’s the more advanced shifting system on the market. It should blow xtr out of the water. Unfortunately that is not the case and AXS gives no real world improvement to the product. Biases come from experience. Ride both back to back and tell me what you would rather ride 😂
