Maybe it’s the recent rain, but Chaparral trail is *really* torn up and bumpy, how are you able to ride it at those speeds without being thrown off your bike?! I’m an MTB noob still learning the ropes 🤷♂️

Shimano 6 bolt on my CF FS in Thailand. SRAM 6 bolt on my AL FS in Oregon. But, if I was flying back & forth, I would have to change to Center Bolt. Thank you for helping think through

One piece can get lighter. Check the Galfer wave rotors. About as light as you can get without sacrificing stopping power.

Good info on the 6B and Center lock. So on those two wheels you have being same axle width will fit on the same frame (either the 6B or if you had a Center lock rotor). In other words that rotor will fit right inbetween the caliper. Reason I ask is I have a 6B wheel that needs replacement and was thinking about a wheel with a Center Lock as a replacement.

I’m sorry but your comment about no play in centre lock discs is wrong. There’s always more play in CL vs 6 bolt, the CL spline is not a clearance fit so will always have play. up to 2mm of play on a 203mm rotor, just rock the wheel back and forth while applying the brakes.

Nice video. My second year MTB and now I have the Fox Factory 36 160 fork and Float X shock and definitely I’m not good enough to figure out how to make the adjustments so just got the ShockWiz and slowly getting the suspension dialed in… at least to what some programmer think the set up should be. It’s a good start point and as I progress, maybe I’ll have my own preferences.

I have a specialized roubaix sl4 with tektro 140 rear disc and 160 front disc 6 bolt. I bought a wheelset that is centerlock. Should I use an adapter to use the same 6 bolt rotors or just buy new centerlock rotors? If I do change into centerlock, will I need to change the braking mechanism, or will it not be affected? Thanks and great informative video.

Everything functions properly kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of KZbin. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
