Now there is a war going on in my motherland. The war has changed all our peaceful lives. Ukraine is fighting russian fascists who are killing children and destroying peaceful cities. The fate of the free world is decided on my homeland.I hope we stay alive. I wish everyone never to see what we see now.

Thanks for this video. I used it to repair one of the two bikes I am renovating for the Ukrainian mum and daughter we housed last year here in Denmark. Slava.

Exactly what I was looking for. I had no idea how to change cable in the lockbox. This is the most non-obvious design. I didn't even know if it was possible. Thank you for the help!

This is GREAT video! When the hand shifter is in 1st gear, the length of the cable, measured from the end of the cable coat to the beginning of the black ring when the cable is pulled and clamped in a metal hexagon and fitted in a red socket, is between 9.5 and 10.5 mm. Then fine tuning can be done as needed, when everything is assembled as on this video. DO NOT overtite cable in metal hex. , it will cut cable! Велики поздрав за аутора!

You meant 9,5-10,5 cm and not mm, right? Or wrong?

Excellent video. Thanks much. BTW, never, ever, ever remove the gear indicator cover. Only evil can come from that, and it won't help.

Cable must not be set by trial and error. You will easy cut if too much. There are fixed cable settings published by SRAM or otherwise use their specific tool.

This method works as well as the tool if you watch it carefully. He shows you (at 3.13) where to place the hex retainer bolt. The way he shows you means you cut it just a bit too long and can fine tune afterwards. Sure - the cute elephant tool (one of my favourite tools in the world - I even have it on my tool board at work - I'm a bike mechanic) eases the process. But this method is fine - especially considering SRAM no longer make the tool or even decent quality click boxes any more.

There must be a precise measurement between the nut and the adjusting barrel. The SRAM tech sheets say 8cm from the nut to the barrel adjuster for the P5. It's probably the same for theP7.
@paullarrabee73583 жыл бұрын
9 cm for the P7

Worst component I've ever worked with. The internal of the twist shifter might as well be made of fucking paper.

Yeah they suck pretty hard. But repairing the old ones is still an improvement on the crap they are selling in 2024 under the Sturmey Archer brand.

Навіщо так ускладнювати. Треба було за інструкцією робити, 95 мм довжина тросика і все відразу правильно сідає
