What I think is hilarious is how everything's basically metric on modern bikes, but there are a bunch of "weird" standard metric sizes because they CAME from imperial - 31.6mm seatposts = 1.25", 25.6mm seatpost = 1", 22.2mm (MTB bar OD) = 7/8", etc.

I would go GX route (either cable operated or wireless, both work great) you really don't want nx, and dont need xo1 or xx1

@@samb394 most important difference is that the nx cassette uses hg freehub instead of sram xd freehub. So you lock yourself out of upgrades beyond nx. Also the shifter and derailleur are built a bit cheaper

Ha!!The trusty old deraillure hanger but better in safety and is just eaiser to find!! I wish I had one of those bikes with UDH on it but mine is built in to the frame(Where hanger is part of frame) which is not safe especially for a hybrid bike ridden as a MTB going over jumps and drops.By-The-Way great development Sram keep on innovating

I upgraded a vitus mythique 10speed to a sram xo1 12speed. When i lineup derailleur jockey wheel with 10T cog the adjustment screw needs to be backed all the way out, like if hanger needs to be thicker so adjustment screw can be screwed in. Is the UDH the answer. Hanger is stock and straight. What to do??

Why not just put flat mount brake holes on the drive side chainstay and then make a derailleur to mount on it? You could attach it with simple breakaway bolts that could be sourced for pennies, and it'd be tucked even further away from risk.

The plastic sleeve of this unit is a design flaw. Snaps when over torqued and then almost impossible to remove.. should be alloy and hence the many after market alloy options.

SRAM UDH only takes 12 mm thru-axles and the bikes must be designed around this hanger standard.

your frame has to be compaitble, if yes then yes, but each hanger has to have the right interface for the frame

Great idea poor execution unfortunately. I’ve ridden a few bikes with the UDH and they all have a terrible creak under load. I swapped my UDH for a billet version and it became silent again.

SRAM. Why would you ever need to replace one of these? It’s got a nifty feature you mentioned of rotating backwards. That 60 degrees of movement is gracious enough to allow the derailleur to crack your seat stay. Yes I said that right. Seat stay. So after a broken frame and derailleur my UDH was unscathed. Good thing I have a spare now for my new frame. Unfortunately I can’t find a frame that doesn’t have this farce now. This thing is incredibly flawed. I’ve been mountain biking 30 years and never had a walking pace derailleur into the wheel incident scrap both a frame and derailleur but not bend the hangar. It is not compatible with all drivetrains like you state here.

Almost all bikes designed around SRAM UDH are MTBs, only a few gravel bikes use it.

one thing they omitted is that even if you look at this the wrong way it breaks, it is made from some black plastic ? aluminum and it breaks very easily. especially if it gets in the higher temperatures. So Yeah - Good job.

As part of the UDH interface design, there is a bump stop that only allows the hanger to rotate until a point.
