The bowlers of previous gen played over 100 test matches and took over 400 wickets. That's a big difference if you are saying lyon and ash are ahead of bowlers like Swann and harbhajan I agree. But if you end up saying they are ahead of Warne and murali no way because 708 and 800 wickets are a huge no. And since the no of wickets are limited it had to be shared by all class bowlers in one team

Its a stupid argument , sachin k 200 hundreds hote. Virat is the greatest ODI batsman, sachin is the greatest Test batsman. Also sachin didn’t have to change his game for t20 cricket and adapt to all 3 formats. From playing tests to t20’s in a span of 4 weeks and do it again and again. Sachin out Hota tha Jab toh poori Team hagg deti thi.. Jab itta pressure ho na kisi player pe toh ek time ke baad uska patience toot hi jaayega.. Sachin for most of his career was the only man on whom India could depend on.. It wasn't until after 2000s when he got support of Ganguly Sehwag Dravid Yuvraj to stabilize Indian batting etc..
