He came close to winning the test series in South Africa had it not been a session of wickets for India, Pujara got run out when both him and Virat were drilling the South African pacers. England series was also a close one though the 4-1 result may not provide the true picture. Half an hour of play with the New Zealand in the World Cup cost the world title for him. New Zealand series other the t20 was a disaster. Rohit was quick to mention that he got injured and left midway. No doubting in his injury but I feel that he has a big ego against Virat. Rarely he talks high about Virat when asked and when virat is asked about him talks very high of him. Just to give you an Aussie example David Warner has absolutely no grudges against Smith in spite of him being one of the explosive batsmen in their line up. You are right though. After Sachin I interest towards cricket had generally dropped but with Virat in the scene around the interest have definitely come back. I would really want him to win a test series in England and South Africa and so looking forward to the test series if corona provides against the mighty Aussies.

Sachin is emotion. Any All time best ever XI of test & ODI team is incomplete without Sachin. VIRAT : Modern Day Great in all three format of the game. Great chaser & overall cricket impact he brought in team. Took inspiration from Sachin & may be learned few skill from him on live TV, during sharing dressing room, or off the field later. 2nd Best ODI batsmen ever after Sachin. T20 right up there at top with others great like - ABD, Gayle, Babar, Warner , etc. In Test he've to do lil bit more. By this date, he'll het feature in All time best ODI team & best T20 team. For me I think the best batsman is Abd Why? Because he is the man who can play in all places on the ground. The cricket has been created for playing throughout in a ground not just for hitting cover drives pull shot etc. You need to be consistent and need to play in all places of the ground.
