I had an overnight train journey and decided I will do this kirtan meditation. I took the upper berth where I could sit undisturbed and put on my headphones. I was transported to such a heavenly realm that I lost all awareness that I was in a train. This kirtan felt as if I took a piece of heaven with me on my travel. It was pure bliss! An ordinary night on train, turned into a memorable contact with God.

My humble opinion on singing Cosmic Chants. Now it is being observed that 60 Chants written or compiled by Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda in his book COSMIC CHANTS are not being sufficient for YSS-SRF devotees for their inner awaking before entering the silent practice of different techniques and then entering into deep silence. They are singing some additional songs which have been designed as devotional songs named as Kirtans. Day by day where it will reach when such devotee made kirtans will become a hundred or more? Then Gurudeva's Cosmic Chants will go back of the existing devotional values. If we follow our Divine Gurudeva so lovingly, then why do we need such addition? Another question to YSS-SRF dignitaries -- to make a chant melodious do all same musical instruments go together? Some times unnecessary uses of those unsuitable instruments make the Chants difficult to tolerate, it just causes irritation, restlessness. In some Chants only harmonium is the best choice. In others tabla may become best association. Let the words of the chant enter into the heart through the ears, sounds of instrumental accessories often take the chanting words out of the goal, the words then appear to be of less interest. The whole musical team will be performing together in all Chants, it is a wrong planning, my feelings say so. Perfect choice of supporting instruments in singing a Chant make it melodious, soothing to a restless mind, deepening the soul to be closer to the Spirit. Chants come from the soul through the vocal cords, not from the instrumental orchestra. Perhaps we are forgetting this. So we should not go beyond the true necessity. Pranam. Joy Guru. Om Krishna.
