Western cultures domesticated horses for various purposes, much like people in South Asia domesticated elephants. In Sri Lanka, elephants have historically been used for heavy labor, ancient wars, and ceremonial activities, similar to how horses were used in the West. Yet, while the use of horses is often accepted, the use of elephants is frequently criticized. It's worth noting that people from some so-called 'First World' countries have killed thousands of elephants for sport, while Sri Lankan people do not engage in such practices. This highlights that every country and culture has two sides to its story.Thanks

The piinawela elephant orphanage is run by Sri Lanka Department of Wild Life Conservation which is a government entity so there is no mistreatment of animals. Those that offer you elephant rides are not affiliated with the orphanage and there are some who own elephants that do this kind of things

Driving Tuk Tuk on your own is a very risky thing in Sri Lanka even though it’s fun. You can be 1000% careful but some other crazy one can ruin your journey… drive safe

I also don't like tourists riding the elephants.... other than that, what animal cruelties are you talking about at Pinnawela? We have a greater love and respect for these animals and they have been part of Sri lankan culture for many thousands of years.....
@vikiclips2 күн бұрын
Same people who against riding elephants, ride horses and bull carts in their home countries...🤣🤣
@grown_up_gap_years2 күн бұрын
We did not say that there was any cruelty. Only that we had received conflicting information about the matter. I think you’ll find that we said we were impressed they put the elephant welfare first in the matter of the safety of the elephants in regard to the bathing. We are not telling anyone what to do only that we are not interested in riding elephants. Personal choice.
@grown_up_gap_years2 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I believe all we said was that we weren’t interested in riding the elephants. This is our personal choice We are not telling anyone what to do. We are entitled to our own choices as are you. What other countries and cultures do or don’t do is also their business.

I guess horses and bulls are not considered animals in the West. Like literally they use machines to slaughter 1000s of cows per day to keep up with the demand. 😂 But it's cooler thing to talk about animal cruelty in 3rd world countries on internet because it is the trending thing on the internet for "civilised" countries
