April to September is the best time to travel East Coast of SL. Here are some recommendations for east part of Sri Lanka. Arugam bay,elephant rock in arugam bay, kumana national park, Pasikuda beach, Trincomalee, Koneswaram temple, Marble beach, Pigeon island, dutch bay beach (great place for Scuba diving too), Uppuweli beach, Minneriya national park, Nilaveli beach, Polonnaruwa (if you’re interested in ancient ruins, not exactly east but close), etc...
