There is nothing called Sri Lankan music. It is wrong. The lyrics are in Sinhala and the music is Buddhist Pirith chanting. This is the correct description from ancient times.

There is nothing called a Sri Lankan language nor Sri Lankan writing. There is no Sri Lankan alphabet. There is Sinhala language, the Tamil language and the English language. The three most important and spoken languages in Sri Lanka. The Music in Sri Lanka can also be categorised accordingly. The language used to write the lyrics defines the identity of the music. If the lyrics are in the Sinhala language then invariably the song or the music will be identified as Sinhala music.😊

@@SenakaWeeraratna well in my pov, if something was originated in Sri Lanka they can be called 'Sri Lankan' so since the Sinhalese stuff were originated here they can be called "Sri Lankan". Besides, Tamil and English languages weren't actually originated here; Tamil was originated in India so it's an Indian language, which is also used in Sri Lanka. They can't be called 'Sri Lankan' languages. It's just spoken in sri lanka but it's Indian. There're French speaking UK citizens but you don't call French an 'English language' right? The same applies to music too. The Kandian music used in the video was purely originated in Sri Lanka so it is Sri Lankan. I agree it is Sinhalese but it's also Sri Lankan. You can't call Tamil music 'Sri Lankan' because everything from the instruments to rhythms were originated in India. So I don't see anything wrong with calling kandian music or Sinhalese language as Sri Lankan. Don't misunderstand me I've got nothing against our tamil brothers and sisters I'm just stating facts.. and it's just my opinion that's all.

This is undoubtedly the BEST DOCUMENTARY about srilanka.. The beginning and ending just breathtaking 😍❤️ U guys added best bgm.. The pirith part, අපේ ගම novel part and other sounds too when others add some Indian music and western stuff.. Also u guys captured a lot of things about srilanka that others miss and don't care.. Things like ayurweda, our architecture engineering skills, history, buddinsm, Buddhist culture, sinhala language which is originated from SL... etc No wonder this was written and narrated by a foreigner thankyou very much Anna u done a great work also the editor..
