I think the sylhetis that are of arab descent have the stature and stand their own the majority of the low caste Hindus who converted to Islam under the tax system try to assimilate with Pakistanis who want to move up the social. The majority of Pakistani are really nice and loving they can tell the difference between the low-caste Hindu reverts and Sylheti Muslims of arab descent.

Back in the days, most arabs in saudi were pagans, fire worshippers and what not then Islam came, RasoolAllah spread Islamic message people accepted and it spread. Arabs werent muslim born pre islam. Similar in South Asia, back in the days, many centuries ago there were buddhist, hindus, accepted islam. For your information Bangladesh region many centuries ago was more buddhist majority. No. We are bengali. I was born in the UK but my parents, family is from Bangladesh. There is a reason why the war happened. Urdu will never be our national language, it will always be Bengali so please don't much such comments. From what my husband said, there is still a lot of hurt of Pakistan action so this comment is not good.

@@mumihp if you’re Bengali then I see why you would want Bengali language but I’m sylheti who can’t speak or understand Bengali. We are not bengalis so we have to adopt a neutral language where we all can communicate with each other. Urdu would be perfect because it doesn’t belong to any ethnicity and the words are derived from Farsi, Arabic and alphabets are Arabic. Bengali uses a lot of Hindu words, words that comes from the Hindu Sanskrit holy scripture and the alphabets is influenced by hinduism. I rather not associate myself with hinduism I’m sorry

@@noahh6291 Ok, I can tell if you are taking the piss or not. I am sylheti, born in the UK to sylheti parents. I was taught to speak English and also our mother tongue bengali. Bengali is the reason for the liberation, the war. Thousands gave their lives for their mother tongue Bengali. It has nothing to do with India/Hindusim. My husband is from bangladesh and he is passionate about his country and his mother tongue. Bangladesh language is Bengali and it will never be anything else. Stop annoying people with your comments when Bangladesh has not forgotten the atrocity Pakistan commited in Bangladesh especially what they did to the women there. If you were Bangladeshi, you would never support the use of using using Urdu, so makes me think you are not. Even though I was born in the UK, I knew what happened in the Liberation war. The country that spilled its blood to be liberated, to be free from Pakistan and protect their mother tongue bengali will always protect their country right to freedom and freely practice their language without facing discrimination which was one of the reason for the Liberation war.

@@mumihp ok for your information sylhetis are not bengalis by ethnicities, our true identity is nagree and we had our own alphabets but the sylhet division joined Bengal, the Bengali language was forced on us. It’s sad that majority of sylhetis in London don’t even know that they are nagrees. Urdu doesn’t belong to any ethnicities hence why it was chosen to be the national language. It would be unfair to a Punjabi, balochi, pashtoons, Kashmiris, Sindhis to speak Bengali when they aren’t even Bengali. And equally it would be unfair on any of us to make any of their language as our national language. Urdu is widely spoken across India subcontinent. It’s origin is from the mogul empire where they mixed Hindu with Farsi and Arabic words. Pakistan did not kill 3 million people, that has not been proven. Sarmila Bose who is a kolkatta Hindu visited bangladesh and wrote a report. The estimate was something from 50k-100k people died. In fact it was the bengalis and the Indian agents who killed more bengalis after 1971 especially the Biharis. They killed 350k people, that included killing of anyone who was patriot towards Pakistan, they killed children, raped their women, daughters, mothers, and burnt down their villages. So to your argument it was actually the bengalis who killed bengalis more than Pakistan. This is a fact! Not fabricated but obviously your husband was educated by the awami league history books. West Pakistan did propose to East Pakistan to rule their wing themselves, but with defence, trading, rights to reside agreement. But bengalis started fighting amongst themselves, because they couldn’t decide who was going to rule. The topic is far more complex than what you are implying. It’s called critical thinking, you can’t be biased. There’s always both sides of the story. Pakistan wants to build ties with bangladesh but india doesn’t allow it because they feel threatened. There are Indian agent in bangladesh and they stop anyone who promotes Pakistan reunification. Our country was beautiful, we had a large country with different ethnicities, weather, cultures but now all I see is low cast South Indian looking bengalis who support india and the movement of liberation war. Please research facts and not just go with one source.
