Soulful singing by Sudha Raghunathan and Sriranjani. I was a bit surprised and amused by the questions and conversation that followed. "Sustained stardom', 'paparazzi'...these are terms one does not usually associate with a carnatic musician. Only Elvis, Michael Jackson and film stars come to mind when you hear those terms. One would consider carnatic music as a yoga; accomplished musicians as vidwans/vidushis/inspirational gurus and creators, whose music speaks for themselves; but never as stardom or glitzy fame mongering artists that may be insecure if the 'stardom' is not sustained. There seems to be an unhealthy trend among a certain younger breed of Carnatic musicians to always engage with rasikas in the quest of 'sustained stardom' and also from certain rasikas who have an unhealthy interest in the artist's personal life and fandom.

The magnanimity of the legend to sing with the most promising youngster vidhushi was stunning. Both the voices vintage brigas and novel brigas together was a rare feat. In 20-30 years Vid Sriranjani will look at this video of singing together and would smile . Timeless !

The rendition of the krithi in Sindhu Bhairavi by the duo transports one to ecstasy with the palpable stress on the Bhakti Bhava. The soul of any music is Bhava without which a musician's all intellectual repertoires exhibited during a rendition merely reduces the art into a grotesque caricature. The rendition of this song by the duo is a mute statement on the emphasis of bhava. Kudos to them.

Great musicians do not care about the fruit like stardom,if you are one, the music itself is good enough to keep you going. Stardom is all about the ego...which makes a great musician just another human..

I think the negativiry may be due to her fans expecting only the best from her, both in her personal and professioal life. I think Sudha madam may be referring to her son-in-law being a black guy.
