Hi Michael, I used to have the Mizuno JPX 850 forged, wanted more forgiveness and went to the Callaway XR (starnge choice I can hear you saying...) but the feel was a big let down. I've just ordered a set of the Srixon Z565s and I have to say they felt and looked superb when I went for the fitting. Can't wait to try them on the course. Great review as usual, keep up the good work!

Was hoping to pick up the 45's cheaper! Oh well. Had a fitting at Moor Allerton today they were awesome, had me hitting the 6 iron 205 yards and completely changed my shot shape. Amazing what a custom fit can do.

I just replaced my Mizuno jpx eiii Forged (Japan only model) with Z565s. These are not as forgiving as the Mizunos. Much better looking than any other game improvement irons out there. I have them in the same shaft and I have lost about 5 yards. I only play on weekends and still getting used to them and I like them very much. The feel is just awesome. The irons tend to draw so I need to adjust my alignment a bit.

What do you think of the spin numbers on this iron? Seem low spinning - does angle of descent help offset that?
@randymahony66646 жыл бұрын
Michael how forgiving are they? It didn't seem like you had any off center or mishits.

I literally went to Golf town today and hit these..... so easy to hit.... swing easy and make contact and you get a consistent ball flight and the feel is unreal. I NEVER KNEW SRIXON PRODUCED IRONS TO THIS CALIBER! The best part is the price. QUESTION THOUGH MICHAEL! What do you think about these compared to 355? Big price difference between the two.... let me know !
@MichaelNewtonGolf6 жыл бұрын
355 good iron but the feel off the 565 is much superior!
@aallard39596 жыл бұрын
I hit the 565 today and instantly purchased them...unreal.... cant believe that I never considered Srixon... you CAN spend 1200-1500 plus on a set of irons.... or you can get this kind of quality and feel for 899.99 its all branding!

Question... I and a 12 handicap and currently hit callaway stealhead xr pro irons and thinking of changing to either srixon z765 or the z565 I don’t need to add distance both feel great which do you think would be a better fit?

Gordon T. Hi Gordon. I don't hold the XXIO range as it's really expensive so a tough sell. I've hit them, there really aimed at slow swing speeds like seniors etc.

currently game the Z545 irons and was looking to upgrade with the hopes of pushing myself into the 765 series based on previous model reviews saying the feel from the 7s was beautiful and noticeable between the 5 series. however after seeing this review Mayne the 565 has an increase in feel over the 545 and may not need to go up to the 765?
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
yes i think the feel is a lot closer in the new models than the 45 series, deffo worth you testing yourself to compare
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
VWRabbit2008 yes totally agree! I've had many customers opt for the combo of 565 in the longer irons then the 765's in shorter irons. Good option for you. You'd just have to be custom fitted as the lofts are 1 different between the two models so would have to be changed to get gapping bang on.
@hustondan8 жыл бұрын
great review. I am looking at a combo set of 5s and 7s, 7s would start at the 7i. If you did combo what would you do with lofts? I hits the 5s quite a bit further so would have a distance gap between the 6i and 7i with the combo set. thanks!
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
+dch01 hi. This combo has been very popular in the fittings I've carried out. I would personally weaken the lofts of the 565's by 1 Degree to match the 7's. never a bad thing to have slightly more loft on your long irons. Thanks for your comment.

Great video, I wanted to know your thoughts on this: do you think cast irons have a longer playing life than forged irons? I only ask because I recently ordered a set of the Z565 irons and they are fantastic but as I was unwrapping them from the plastic I notice little nicks and dings in the soft forged metal. After a few rounds of them rattling around in the back of my trolley there were more little dings which got me thinking about the overall durability of forged clubs because I never saw this in previous cast sets. Thanks again for videos, keep up the good work.
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Pasvantis Hi Michael. Yes Forged head irons pick up small nicks as the metal is softer. Generally Forged irons have a chrome coating to stop the head from rusting so sometimes this chrome wears especially on the face through hitting balls which can then start to rust. Having said that, you'd have to hit a hell of a lot of balls in the same position on the face for this to happen. You won't experience nicks on cast heads like you said, harder material. Thanks for your comment and glad your liking the videos

Hello Michael, Really enjoy watching your reviews. What handicap range would you say these irons would fit, as high as mid twenties?
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, glad you liking the videos. It really depends on what your strike pattern is like. If you strike it pretty consistent then yes this Z565 iron would suit perfectly but there are more forgiving irons out there in the market but these are generally cast heads not forged. You maybe need to decide if forged is something you really want, if so then go and test these yourself to see if you can get the maximum performance out of them. Hope this helps.

I;m looking at upgrading my vr pro combo set. I hit the irons well. But they were never custom fitted. I've finally found a more consistent swing, yet I'm not getting any younger. So, What's your opinion for a 7 handicap player creating a combo set as follows 565 - 4,5 765 -6,7,8 and the 965 9, pw. Im thinking 965 at 9 and pw to give me the extra spin as compared to the 765 due to the 965 being blades. Or am I overthinking the benefit of the backspin with a blade. I love my vr blades 8 thru pw.
@MichaelNewtonGolf7 жыл бұрын
+Jeff Lundy sounds good but make sure the lofts are adjusted to get the correct gapping between the three different models

Good review Michael. Spin seemed a bit low for a 6 iron.. What are your thoughts?
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
Hi. My spin with all irons is generally low, just my delivery that causes that and i play heavier and stiffer shafts which does help this but i prefer the feel of these particular shafts

Hi Michael another very informative review I play the z745 and z545 and absolutely love them get so many compliments on them as srixon in my opinion are very underrated so not many club golfer have the the new ones look very nice they look similar is there a tad more offset on them
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! I'm a Z745 player and had them for the full two years from the initial launch, still love them the same as when I first hit them!

I'm stuck on the fence. 565 or 765? I'm a 7 and leaning toward the 565 only because they look so familiar and I cannot imagine the 565 isn't easier to hit. I currently hit a players club and want a change to something easy. Feel free to talk me into the 765s if you think that's the way... (I have a friend who is a +1 and he hits Ping Gs, so I'm surrounded by a trend in the opposite direction).
@MichaelNewtonGolf7 жыл бұрын
Thomas Finn if you want forgiveness the 565 all day long! Not saying the 765 aren't forgiving the 5's are unreal! Plus they look clean behind the ball unlike the G's. You also have the option to combo, 565 in long irons then into the 765's in short irons? The lofts behind the two models are 1* different so you'd have to tweak either of the two models to blend together for gapping purposes. Good option tho.
@bennyboy67968 жыл бұрын
Would these be comparable to the titleist 716 ap1
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
BennyBoy in forgiveness terms yes but these 565's are forged, the AP1's aren't.
@taylormadeguy2488 жыл бұрын
Great Review! Would this be comparable to an AP2?
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
I'd say 565 more forgiving than AP2
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
EMW-Ytube Hi. Both models are very similar but maybe the 565 just edges it for forgiveness as it has a slightly wider sole and deeper cavity....just. Both great irons!
@mawe66288 жыл бұрын
Thx Michael. I'm a slow swinger (75mph, only just startet this year with golf) and should be looking for a graphite shaft. Do not like the orange shaft Srixion is offering. However, how do you compare the Mizuno graphite shaft offering, the Proj.X LZ 4.5R or the Recoil 95R to the Miyazaki R from Srixion? There or no infos of torque for the Recoil available or INT. Flex codes for the Mizuno offerings.
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
Manfred Weil hi thanks for your comment. It can be really tough to compare different shafts without you hitting as your performance is different to the next person and so on. The LZ is a good option from what I've found throughout fittings, best to head to the nearest fitting centre that holds both Mizuno & Srixon fitting components to test yourself on a launch monitor. I have both but not sure how close your are to me or even if your in the same Country!!

From what I hear this iron isn't completely forged as it has a steel face insert. Still feels soft on contact but not as soft as the 765 I'm assuming. Slightly disappointed as I tested the Z565 today assuming it was fully forged and was likely to buy.

Its has a forged body with a separate SUP10 face insert to allow for greater flex. The assumption is the face insert is steel...

Nice Irons, nice Vid. Pity that Srixon Europe, based in the UK, have decided that they can off their LH offerings to the one and only LH golfer in Lichtenstein, but decided to use the ol' chestnut of the LH market being too small in the UK (with it's 4million golfers) to offer them to a guy 20 miles down the road form their HQ! As I said, nice Irons, but with a ridiculously inept marketing and business strategies.
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
It is frustrating to be honest as I've had many a left handed absolutely gutted that they can't get their hands on a set!
@JAG16518 жыл бұрын
Well you're probably in a better position than I, as a Srixon brand 'ambassador' and Srixon retailer to put this situation to them, because if you are having Lefties contact you expressing their frustration then clearly that 'ol' chestnut about not having the market for LH golfers is wrong on their part, and with proper feedback from someone like yourself, then maybe, just maybe they change their minds. As I said, the fact that Srixon Europe will happily send LH equipment from their HQ in Alton to Lichtenstein, but the same Srixon Europe from the same HQ in Alton, will not send it down the road in the UK to the largest Golf participation Country in Europe is....well....more than frustrating, it makes them look like clowns, it also makes the said ol' chestnut as. well, a weak argument at best shall I say. Will you put this situation to them please Michael?
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
+JAG sixtyfive interesting, as far as I know Srixon Europe have never ordered any left hand from Srixon in Japan but I'll Deffo ask the question
@rhythmicdisciple70458 жыл бұрын
While I echo the sentiments of my fellow lefty, I've heard from a certain online retailer that lefty options will be available in UK from Jan 2017. However, looking at the Srixon.co.uk site, they are not available (European site = Yes). Michael, please could you clear this up for us please. Thanks...
@JAG16518 жыл бұрын
It is true that Srixon has said that they may make them available in LH in the UK in January. They have cited that they want to get the 'soft launch' out of the way first. Then look at the situation again. Which in itself is odd to the point of it being a 'crock' because they were happy to ignore that 'soft launch' for Europe. So that's just more BS that makes less sense than the original decision. They seem to be moving goal posts without any kind of strategy or consistency, just as Bridgestone Golf was in Europe, and look what happened to them. And if Srixon don't get this right, then the RH guys lose out too if they decide to pull out of Europe due to inept management decisions.
