Okay, it has to do with the fact that most wear/damage done on an engine during use happens when the motor is still cold. This is because as the motor warms up to operating temp the metal pistons actually expand (How much it expands depends n whether it's a cast or forged piston) SO when the motor is cold the piston can slide back and forth a few thousandths of inch more than normal (Called piston slap) Riding it, and increasing the rpm's while it is cold makes the back and forth play that much more aggressive. I hope that's generally what you were looking for. At the end of the day you are not going to drastically mess anything from doing it once or twice or even five times but if you ride a bike 50,000 miles and do not let one warm up ever, and the other with the same miles was warmed up every time i would bet that the motor that gets warmed up will be in much better condition. Didn't mean to sound harsh I just love those old 80 CI Harley's and love to see them keep going well past 50K miles!

If you like Harleys we have an annual Harley Davidson race, it's not really a race, it's more like a couple of days were something like 50.000 Harley Davidson riders meet to exhibit their bikes and to hang out with other harley owners. Having had the chance of riding on the back seat of a fatboy harley ... omg do I want to own one myself someday. It's not just the look really. To me it's also the feeling. Really cool, I like it. Unfortunately it is too expensive for a student like myself, but I'll be saving my money for it. Maybe in one or two years I'll be getting into motorcycles :). Have you ever had an accident if I may ask? Do you feel comfortable on the bike? I prossume it's similar to start learning to ride a bicycle. It looks scary at the beginning but after you've done it you don't even have to think about it anymore and you become comfortable, right?. Also what helmet, gear, protection, gloves would you recommend? I don't want to go cheap really. Rather I'd like to be save, but have a good ride. Thanks
