if mileage drops 6-7% then we will be needing more fuel which will ultimately increase the import duty. that will not make that much impact to the economy. hence, all the research and expense will not make a difference as expect. if we really need to cut the import, we must have to make convenient the public transport. this is tried and tested in all the countries.

Depend upon material use for engine. Ethanol can cause rust in fuel tank, block fuel filters, cause carbon deposition in intake manifold so engine performance drop. I work in Automobile R&D company. During early face of developing Ethanol based engines we faced same failure I mentioned above. That is why I said it depends on material of engine. Ethanol can damage engine if material is not suitable for it. Ethanol quickly rust metals, deposit easily in form of carbon

@@thakur.rajat7 Depends upon you and your budget BS 6 Stage 2 have more powerful engine so if you have budget then you can go for it. Otherwise BS6 Stage 1 Kushaq is also not bad, 1 lac discount is good deal. Both Stage 1 and 2 falls under BS6 emission norms so there is no problem. I only gave my opinion based on performance you can also check its Safety ratings, fuel efficiency. If you have good budget check all the parameters anf Test drive both the cars and then decide

I own Hero Xtreme 200r Sept 2018 model . 4 years 44,580 kms and still running smooth. The Point is Now E12 Petrol now is considered "Normal Petrol" available and replaced E10. Since BS-4 engines are compatible with E10 Petrol earlier, now E12 Petrol raises concern about reliability of BS-4 Petrol Engines in long run. So is it wise to sell Xtreme 200r BS-4 and buy new Xtreme 200s 4v BS-6 Phase 2??

Ethanol is highly hygroscopic. It attracts water particles. As a result air moisture/water is accumulating in transportation, at dealer tanks & in vehicle tanks if its not air tight. Older vehicles with carburettor are facing maximum problem.

7% mileage drop matlab 7% more fuel dalna parega = ghuma firake hisaab wahipe ayega. Petrol ki toh kimate kam nahi ho rahi , is sab ka matlab hai public toh murkh hai. Petrol pump par ek taraf 100% pure petrol aor dusri taraf E5 E10 E20 ka jo bhi gov ko bechna hai platform hona chahiye, customer ko jo chahiye vo dalwa lega. Engine life will reduce. Carborator engine pe to 97% petrol wala fuel daalna chahiye tbhi bs6 me carborator band kar diya tha kyuki ethanol ki amount 10% ho gyi thi to 20% ethanol me to risk double ho gya hai. Mileage bhi ghategi, performance and engine life sab kam ho jayega.

Good news, now a conversion kit which identifies the percentage of ethanol mix in the fuel and filters it and supplies purified gas to the engine. Moreover this kit is compatible upto 85% of ethanol blending and also in the process of being approved by ARAI and will be soon available as a plug and play device across the country. Those engines are bs6 compliant which run best on e10 and normal petrol but they are not designed for e20. bs6 2.0 engines have major modifications for newer e20 fuel. If you're purchasing a new bike time is right now since bs6 2.0 bikes will get much more expensive. Luckily I upgraded to P150 recently.

Finally this is huge lose to the public because of 7% milige drop and mainly engine damage that rebuild cost around 5000 to 20000 or more depends on engines to engines. I guess the E20 compliant engines are designed to withstand the E20 fuel, so in a way you can say that the engines are more durable, in which case E10 fuel should be like a treat for E-20 engines. I dont know if it's correct so don't quote me on that.
