I think you're right on the carabiner. I personally have a Fusion steel carabiner that I don't mind side-loading.

As a 100% SRS climber, not a fan of this technique. I experimented with it & although I never “broke” a carabiner, I did damage them by bending the corner of the gate lock. As well as driving so much debris into the mechanism that they are junk now. When I redirect, it is normally a limb that has a significant amount of movement when loaded & unloaded. Because of this the rope shifts the position of the carabiner or quickie so much that it can compromise either to a point of failure. Just not a fan personally, but to each their own. Thanks for another quality video!

Cool idea, love it. I like a Quickie for stuff like this, just to be 100% sure I'm not screwing up a carabiner. Also I think I would do this with a cheaper and smaller micropulley, no real need for the Hitchclimber if you're only going to be using one hole, is there?
@PoplarMechanic Жыл бұрын
So yes. Carbiner is not the best option. I have a version better than the quickie and the biner. Also, I was only using the hitch climber because that's what I had with me. You can use any pulley. I'll have a video out on Sunday showing the improved method

@@PoplarMechanic Good stuff mate. The idea is golden, the rest is just details to be worked out, tried and refined. 😁👍 Climb high and stay safe.
