@@mattz4229 it’s amazing how many different types and makes they beat. I mainly did role races on n the highway or interstate because I would get wheel hop and be afraid of breaking an axel. Even tho I would only get it if launched correctly. If I spun tf out of the tires it wouldn’t do it. I used to love the old men in their vetted talk shit about it being one of those little 4 bangers with an exhaust but little did they know about that punch it would pack. Then they would just be impressed.

What I love about Neon SRT4s nowadays is if you see one, you can be pretty sure it'll be really fast. Why? Cause it's been out for a while. For someone to still keep it on the road, they put some solid time and care into it.

I have a 2005 srt4 with 97K miles on it sitting in my garage. I've put a stage 1 on it and rebuilt the turbo and transmission and head. It is so fast with just mild mods including a bfm intercooler and intake. I keep up with most mustangs and vettes. Dodge built these cars so detuned its crazy. They are fast as hell with the right mods and driver!

Utah has horrible fuel options. So a 50 trim on water meth is nasty fast on these setups. E85 on a 50 trim is more than enough to pull on a stock hellcat.

SRT4 Were the First SRT cars built by Dodge even before Viper. SRT4 is doing well because of power to weight ratio. I had SRT4 brand new in 2004 was making 415whp and 2900lbs hard to beat. I was beating Mustang, 911, etc back then was fun car that punch above its class. And still one of best sounding 4 bangers ever built, even from factory they came with NO mufflers.

The best 4 banger dodge ever manufactured. My str4 was 630hp and managed to drive it daily for 84,000 miles until I had kids and sold it. The saddest day of my toys for sure.

@@redlinerehab what shocks most people is that I was still on the stock bottom end. Larger turbo, higher flow injectors, electromotive tech2 ecu, web cam racing cams and valve springs. The factory srt4 powdered rods can handle 800hp but they cannot handle higher rpm’s. Powdered metal is strong but cannot stretch which occurs on the srt4 about 8200rpm. I miss that car. Planning on getting another one for the track to build with my little boy one day.

Now you all now why the original Demon and the Duster 340s were called giant killers. They weighed roughly the same as that SRT4, and perhaps not quite the power that lil booger has, but they pissed off a lot of guys running big blocks in bigger, heavier, (faster) cars. Short Answer yeah you should do just fine in a rolling start scenario against most cars. Long answer.. A lot of people kinda get lost in numbers. You have to remember there are ALOT of factors going into different races. They already mentioned traction and tires are very important obviously. Pure numbers-wise 707hp from the Hellcat is probably an SAE number from an engine Dyno. Where the Neon was probably to the wheels when it was tuned. So you're looking at 429hp to the Wheels in a 3300lb car and the hellcat is 646 to the wheels at 4535lbs. (You can do the math as far as power to weight) All SRT4 owners do pulls in 3rd gear and big turbo guys have to brake boost so Driver Mod is big factor here. Engine condition, outside temp, tire pressure, all are factors. There is a reason racing companies have Teams of people to do all of this research and math to do all of these Adjustments to the car. But a 500(ish) Neon is a decent contender against most cars just have fun.

I'm super stoked that Dodge is getting back into Turbo vehicles- and finally going to offer some new vehicles not based on an 18 year old platform- that weigh nearly 5000 lbs.. Big iron boat anchor V8s get old- Dodge did small turbo cars before it was cool- and they did it well. Also, the Neon was such a cheap fun car-; I've got an SRT4 swapped 95 Neon ACR with 34,000 original miles, the Koni adjustable struts... Way more fun than my Hellcat could ever be simply because it handles so much better... And nobody wants to steal it 😂... Yes I've ordered a Hornet, but I also ordered a Dart when those were new because I like compact Turbo Dodge cars. It wasn't fast, but did get 40mpg, and was really comfy on long trips, even with it's 6 speed manual. Come on DODGE!! Finally!!

@@redlinerehab Then paint it that color. Those guards, on the Charger, are in direct contact with the paint. They aren't meant to be left in place, therefore they are loose. Road debris like rocks get caught inbetween them and the paint and scratch it up pretty bad over time.

And he’s preboosting, where you push clutch in and rev it up so the turbo is already spinning air, you do that not only at the dig but if you’re good at it you can do it between every gear shift so thru the gears your not having any boost lag at all, so it’s pushing full boost the whole time and you can do it without hurting or straining the clutch at all as long as you do it right
