Billy Strings is bluegrass but plays anything .and definitely worth checking out.love of the blues will bring you to many incredible talents that aren't famous any more but sure could play .Peter Green of early 6:47 Fleetwood Mac is really . But for the most hidden gem . Listen to Roy Buchanan called the greatest unknown blues player .

As an avid Strat player with 40+ yes of band experience, Stevies playing both inspired me and made me want to give up playing at the same time. His ability to just have the guitar become an extension of himself, and pull tones out of the instrument that I've never come close to achieving. And you're right, non players may not have the same understanding of just what a rare talent he was. In 7yrs he introduced so many people to the blues and many longtime blues plates credit him with the revival of their careers. Guitar players ran out to buy the albums of all the blues greats SRV mentioned that influenced him. Tragic the way it ended for him, his loss to blues lovers around the world left holes in all our hearts.

AnalogOpher HAHAHAHA are you serious????? He just copy catted Real Bluesman..He got on MTV and that was a lot of peoples indruction to blues..too bad SRV wasnt really that good of a representative of Blues but rather a mediocre guitarist...nothing original no innovative style or technique..most important NO FEELING OR EMOTION!!!! Just flashy clothes and a guy show boating to audiences that couldnt discern a counterfeit from the genuine article.. Go back and educate your self on The Blues..go buy a cheap electric guitar and amp look up on youtube how to play what he played ..then you will understand how Stevie wasnt really that good...Just A pop blues wannabe. That got lucky on some MTV videos LOL. It is tragic and sad that he got killed not disrespecting that. If he would have kept going another 10 or 20 years and improving got off the drugs and got serious and forgot about the flashy hats and capes and clothes got down to business he could have been great

Attention young people of today who think what they are listening to is good quality musical talent...... IT ISNT...... Watch and learn. This is what a BAND is supposed to sound like. Everyone playing TOGETHER... And most importantly.....NO COMPUTER generated sounds!!!!!
@benoakes74974 жыл бұрын
i think that music is music there is no standard; there is nothing wrong with computer generated sounds bc you could say legends like the beatles used them in there earliest form using the mellotron. Also, there is good music today otherwise it wouldnt have such great effect on people and those people have talent. However, SRV's level of virtuosity on the guitar will never be matched as his style is so impeccable unique it will never ever be repeated in the near future.
@michaeldistefano19214 жыл бұрын
@@benoakes7497 People today accept shit music because today's generation has no clue. They don't care that what they are listening to isn't created by MUSICIANS because they don't care. Unfortunately, they were brought up on crap because real music slowly got killed because young people began listening with thier eyes, not thier ears. MTV and technology made it possible for people with zero talent have the ability to sound good. As long as they had a cool video, they were considered talented... Just curious...do you play an instrument?
@benoakes74974 жыл бұрын
@@michaeldistefano1921 While i do respect that in todays world music has become much more homogenous and is treated more as a business, it doesnt mean there isnt talent. The music created by them is still real music as it can ellicit emotions classics like bb king can. Todays generation does have a clue thats why SRV is continuing to take the status of a guitar legend. This may not be a very popular opinion but the video that goes along with music i still consider to be part of the artistry that makes music so good. Such as why i like to watch live performances as his technique on the guitar is so mezmerising and adds to the emotion of the music. I think why you may feel this way about modern pop music is bc blues music has died out and it sometimes feels like rock is on the way out soon as well. and to answer your question i play the guitar, and i think youll find most people are drawn to SRV bc they are guitar players and want see what the best looks like.

i’m a 13 year old who lives and breaths the blues. Right now i’m doing a research project on the blues as well as stevie, i’ve learned so much and even learned my social studies teacher saw stevie 4 times before he passed. There’s just something so magical about the way stevie played and it’s a shame no one I show his music to understands that magic. If it wasn’t for stevie my guitar would be collecting dust. Thanks stevie for creating such good music. I guess it wouldn’t have been such a bad thing growing up in the 80s 🙂. RIP stevie I hope to be like you some day This is an edit a whole year later: Got my first fender strat for my birthday this fall Gotten huge into Dwayne and Derek and all that slide stuff can’t even begin to dive into all the strides I’ve made as a musician in a year man time flies. fucking insane. Anyways I’m loving life and guitar although never as much as I did during those early times of covid, hours on hours of playing, I miss that, been swamped with life shit... more of an excuse more than anything. Probably gonna post some stuff on this account too Until next year??

I’ve also been listening to some Albert King and it’s been really cool to hear the influence from Albert King in SRV’s tone. I’m proud to say since i made this comment i’ve improved so much and i’m really starting to move away from my dream of being an athlete to a musician.
