Hello, friend, I saw your KZbin video about converting the plastic model LAV-25 into RC, and I got interested in the idea and bought one to do just like yours. Your video is from 7 years ago, and it's hard to understand a lot of things. I really liked your channel and your old projects. I'm from Brazil and I would like to know if it would be possible to record a more current video showing the inside of the tank and its internal wiring, as well as how you installed the axle and motor. I'm not going to make it run inside the water, so I believe it will be easier! Please record a new video of the LAV 25 showing it from the inside! A hug from your Brazilian follower, thank you.

Hi There, I'll try to do this if I can find a moment. Basically a single motor drives a shaft down to the transfer box. Steering is as you see in the vid but inside there are limit switches. The steering connects to wires which are connected to the rudders.

@@gonzomechanic7196 Ok, ok, thank you very much, but even with your information, I am still having difficulties with my LAV-25. Which parts should I buy? Or did you make all of them? I am an admirer of your projects. If you find some time, please record the inside of the LAV-25 and explain more about this 8x8 mechanism to me. Hugs from Brazil.

Was that the one produced by "Hobby Boss"?

Hi, yes it is. Be warned though there are a lot of inacuracies. The inside of the missile bay was pretty much guesswork on their part. In reality it is much like the one in the same company's much more accurate 1/35 Tochka. The missile bay door opeing system is also nothing like the complex and interesting system on the real thing - I had to figure that out in order to make mine work. Lastly the cab interior is not right in a anumber of respects as well. However, all that said, it is an impressive looking thing: straight out of Thunderbirds...

Sure, there are a lot videos about other vehicles and submarines on my channel, Gonzo Mechanic, but only one vid of the SS-23. I might make another showing close ups of how it all works. Is probably the most complex model I have made...

So the missile is a one shot deal?
@gonzomechanic71963 жыл бұрын
Hello again, Yes, basically. I prefer the disposable missile type because then you don't have to go looking for them after launch. You can also rig them to explode which is fun. However, my children don't like the idea of 'wasting' them - so now I'm making re-useable ones. I currently have 3 reloads of this type. The kit missile is also retained for display and is too heavy to launch anyway I'll show how I make the live ones in an upcoming vid on the whole system.

@@gonzomechanic7196 that's nice you made copies of the missiles. I initially thought you used the kit missile, doesn't take well to hot rocket exhaust😄

They existed in the early '90s, before a missile reduction treaty with the US and NATO got the Soviets to scrap them all. They were similar too - and slightly larger than - the Tochka system which still exists.
