This is why I'm having to stop collecting German ww2 militaria, the prices are getting out of control. I feel sorry for youngsters trying to get into the hobby 😣

I just started collecting a year ago. I have some good stuff, several daggers. I skipped the show this year because of prices. Unfortunately.

This stuff gets rarer and rarer every year off prices will go up for veteran collectors thats a W for beginners not what do you expect?

The prices have been ridiculous for a long time....

I got my first M40 single decal for $20 dollars in New Orleans in 1998, sold it for $300 last year ... To be fair just shift focus for a different Era, I got into Civil War items because the prices decreased from the 80's & 90's... the German Uniforms are still affordable if you want. Always better than stocks!

I wish I’d known to go to the professionals 15 years ago, I was 20 my grandfather had passed and left somethings and I got a mint condition Puma HJ dagger with the motto, the text was still dark, not a scratch on the blade except from it being pulled out of the scabbard and the scabbard was perfect. I sold it to a guy at the flea market for $150

I remember walking into an uniform shop or somthing in London about 1972; they had tons of Gestapo or something leather coats, different colours.

4:45 the dagger hangers are so a dagger can be worn without a belt on. They'd never wear their belt under the coat

Yeah prices are crazy and just sooo many good fakes or cobbled together items, even using original thread so won’t show up under light. Unless I’m a super expert on these things, especially SS items I’d be very hesitant buying anything now. I mean they could all be original parts but not all together. Tons of uniforms, helmets, hats were debadged and put back together, just after the war. Many were sold to vets who were stationed in Europe who never actually saw combat but wanted a war trophy to take home. It was a big black market industry in Germany after the war. Not saying there are not great examples of uniforms that haven’t been tampered with but it’s becoming more and more common as prices skyrocket.

I'm Dutch. My grandfather's brother joined the SS (Prussian heritage). He was considered a traitor by the family. Jacob survived the war and never had any contact with family after the war. From that point of view an SS uniform really is a shame. yes, they look cool, but these signify shame in my view.....

A guy in Germany at the end of World War II could have filled a duffel bag full of WWII German stuff that he literally just picked up off the street, sat on it for half his life and literally retired off the sale of it. Theres two kinds of people in this world. Those with foresight, and those without it. There will never be a time again to get into this stuff where, if you intend on making any serious money off of it you are going to get a huge return. As each second passes, so do people that have a major hard on for war memorabilia and at the same time there are people born into this world who will never give two shits about this stuff. When it comes to collecting IT IS LITERALLY ALL ABOUT THE TIMING. If you've waited till now to get into collecting WWII memorabilia you are severely late to the game.

I find the best way of finding definitive information on any subject is by going back to the SOURCE. Surely there must have been a uniform regulation manual issued out to the Wermacht / Luftwaffe etc enlisted / staff officers. It's much better than going off general scene banter, which could have been misquoted / muddied over the years..
