I am very interested to learn about yeast harvesting. Thank you for your very informative videos.

Very informative. Thanks. Was wondering if you could dump the yeast using a hose barb fitting, along with a small section of hose on the bottom of the fermenter. That way you could run it easily into your collection jar once the hops have cleared.
@homebeerbrewery4 жыл бұрын
Sure you can also use a Barb fitting and a hose, but with extreme thick yeast slurry it won't run off. Then you have to fi f a mid way, first the thick slurry without a hose barb and later with the hose barb attached. Will show it on next video soon. Cheers and for watching!

Looks great, but you didn't use enough sanitizer. ;) It's cool to see you posting more videos, and I like the new format - some live dialogue, some action with captions. Very nice! Cheers

Hey Really nice channel, I was watching and learning a lot from all these videos! I have some questions about dumping and bottling with a chronical fermenter since I recently upgrade from the plastic bucket... When are you usually dumping trub and yeast from the fermenter (how many days after the yeast pitching)? By dumping the yeast are you not reducing the fermentation on the rest of the wort? I assume you are usually transferring into a keg but which will be the right process to bottle straight from the fermenter without transferring into a second bucket? Since I'm adding priming sugar do I need to dump everything before and then prime, gently stir and wait 30mins that everything sediment again? Can I try to bottle without dumping everything so I will waste less beer? Sorry for all these questions but I'm almost there to bottle and I still have to figure out a good way.

Thank you for your kind words. Normally I dump the yeast and stuff after about 7 days, many brewers,many methods. Some brewers dump it already after a day or 4 and repeat it daily. When I bottle: just using the same silicon hose and I attach a bottle filler on it, bottle straight out the conical to the bottles, I prime them with (mini) sugar cubes about 7 grams on a liter or I use carbonation drops. My dead space in the fermenter with the racking arm pointing down is only 700ml. If you have any extra questions please ask! Cheers and good luck.

Helpful video thanks, when do you need to do your first yeast dump en how often/ frequent do you need to do this?
@homebeerbrewery4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind comment, about the yeast dumping part: many brewers, so many thoughts and methods. I like to dump the yeast after about 6 to 8 days. Depends, you have to know when the fermentation is almost finished. But does it matter? Just try a exactly same recipe, ferment it and do a yeast dump after 7 days and 14 days. Can you taste the difference? Many brewers say you need to do the yeast dumping several times, well... They are right maybe. Just follow your own imagination and think what's good to fit you as a home brewer. Cheers🍻😃

can yeast be different color depending on the beer and yeast used?

I really don’t know, I really doubt it.

Glenn- what is the reason for the yeast dump, and is this done before fermenting is finished ? Great vid again , and cheers, that leftover beer looks good to me just nw - thirsty as hell!!

Hi, you can see a yeast dump or yeast harvest ( to use it again ) as the beginning of the secondary fermentation. After the primary fermentation is finished it's good to drain the yeast off to prevent unwanted flavors ... Almost the same as transferring the beer I to a secondary vessel. Cheers and thanks for the kind comment!
@haroldhorseposture94354 жыл бұрын
@@homebeerbrewery Right, thanks , mate. I do a secondary always, I was thinking my brews were over-attenuated, they seem a bit "thin". Theferments always take about 3 weeks or more at 19 or so degrees. The brews taste "killer" after a week from brewing , but less sowhen finished . I have more to learn it seems ! I love the drone stuff you did and the exploding carbide tank thing is mental. Wonderfull stuff , and great to see activity on your channel again. Yours was one of the channels that encouraged my brewing adventure !

I am also thinking of buying the SS conical fermenter and I have the braumeister 20L as well. Would you recommend the 7Gal or the 14 Gal for the braumeister? Especially ligther beers produces about 25 liters of beer in the braumeister, therefore I think the 7 gal would be to small. Do you know if there any disadvantages of filling the 14gal only half?
@andreasb.62592 жыл бұрын
I guess my opinion comes a little late - what size did you get in the meantime? I'd say you can't go wrong with both sizes. I'm brewing with a 27l kettle, producing about 22 to 25l of wort for for the fermenter. I'm fermenting in the 7gal SS Brewtech Brew Bucket with the optional domed lid and a blow off tube. Definitely fits. I'd say that you have a lot of headspace in the 14gal version of the fermenter - but the bigger version gives you more flexibility (if you plan bigger batches).

Wat doe je feitelijk allemaal met je bier... 40 a 50 liter drink je toch niet zomaar eventjes op... Niet ?

You should put CO2 pressure on the top instead of just removing the air lock. Oxygen is going into your beer!
@homebeerbrewery4 жыл бұрын
You are right, but just a little oxygen, there is still a huge CO2 blanket on top of the beer. Again, right but I am not concerned about it. Cheers and thanks for watching!
@Aratord144 жыл бұрын
@@homebeerbrewery Yeah, I'd rather put only CO2 into the tank ;) Furthermore, if the yeast is stuck, you can increase the pressure to help! Cheers mate!

You are right, I am spoiled with all the nice equipment. €10.000 isn't true, I only own a BM50, SsBrewtech 17g fermenter, ss brewtech kettle and mash tun. I still have a lot of fun brewing, recording everything and the community. Cheers and thanks for your comment!

Hate to tell you ...but there’s absolutely no reason to use that much sanitizer. On top your yeast is leaving not going up your tube so why sanitize something you’re dumping out of.
