The Clip in the background at 1:11 is exactly why the captain or HOS usually kill prisoners away from Borg eyes (in my server on SS13, there's a special room without cameras that's specifically made for this purpose). As borgs and A.I. ABSOLUTLY cannot break their laws, even if the captain commands them to, and the borg had reason to believe the prisoner was simply a victim of a ID theft.

At least on Wizard's Den servers, any person who does not have an ID crew icon is not to be considered a crew member, for Silicon laws. I don't like this ruling, but that's how it goes right now, so, you can just take an ID off of someone, and Silicon's won't have to intervene if they are at risk of harm. In the clip shown, the Silicon player was in the wrong, at least with the current ruleset. And even if this was an old clip, the captain demoted the prisoner, making them no longer Crew, so this was just a Borg that fell victim to the pitfalls of having to understand how Silicon Laws work, which can be hard, to be fair.

@@fernando47180 That ID rule seems a bit extreme, as what prevents new players from dropping their ID while learning the controls, or revived murder victims from being killed for being non-crew? (especially if it's a latejoin captain who thinks the revived ID-less HOS or HOP is a fake) On the server I play on in SS13, a crewmember is only identified as not being crew if they aren't on the HOP's crew list. And if a borg sees someone who they assume is crew being harmed, they should remove them from the danger, then identify if they are crew or not. I can see this ruleset becoming way worse once the AI becomes a role in SS14, because then one traitor could easily turn the AI against the entire station using this loophole, without having to Emag the AI or borgs. Are these servers LRP?

@@TT-Rex I fully agree. I had hoped the dev team would just give the Silicons a means to check the crew manifest, which can be checked on any PDA. Instead, someone decided to give Silicons a sechud kind of feature, and said "just check for crew icons". But who knows, maybe the community at large will eventually see this feature as problematic, and another PR will be pushed with yet another ruling for how Silicons are supposed to operate. I hate having to turn on my round start Captain, just because a thief took their ID, but that's the current ruling...

@@fernando47180 Yeah, I just think it's kinda meta-gamey and Low Role Play to jump on someone for losing their ID. Since it doesn't take that long to drag the arrested person to a command console and see if they're on the manifest (which on SS13 can be accessed by any command member via their PDA or console), then kill or perma them if they aren't on it, instead of assuming they're a nukie. (especially if the PDA bomb is in the game, as that could be used to instantly turn 3 crewmembers into 'Valid' targets) Whereas surely a Higher Role Play environment wouldn't get suspicious immediately unless the suspect had contraband.

such a good guide fr heres my lil chef tip, you only need 1u of a condiment to add more flavor text, so you can mix a bunch of spices in a beaker, shove 1u of it on a burger and have way more text when someone eats it (also if its something like a pizza or bread that you can slice, the slices will keep the extra flavor text, so you can add the spices before slicing)

10:17 tbf salv is a godsend... when they actually bother to do their job and bring some resources. Its a coin toss whether you get more mats than youll ever need, or they fuck off in search of 'le epicz lootz' and die in 10 mins (having played a decent amount of cargo)

Salvage is very good at finding a ton of resources you cannot source otherwise, finding tech you cannot source like rtgs, and dying painfully before the 5 minute mark. Smarter salvagers save the dying painfully for after the 5 minute mark so medical actually has chems. Besides a little bit of mining pays out great, and can be used to leverage for stuff you want, science rarely denies salvage their requests if salvage gets them gold silver and uranium.

That video needs much much more attention than it has right now. Remember my first shift as assistant logging in late-game, not knowing a damn thing, afking, and leaving - there are certainty at least a hundred of people that played the game, didnt understand shit and logged out skipping such treasure, thats why we need to force these kind of videos to in-game sources, like guidebooks
