Great Insight & explaination guys... With TBills & SGS bonds above CPF rates, these instruments look very tempting to be parked under. Its great to have more of these alternatives instruments roundtable talks like ILP, Cash Management accounts, FD..

The latest SSB issue (for Sep'22) is at 2.8% 10-yr average return but I think it is still attractive.

I like to learn more about selling/buying T bills on secondary market. Can buyers see the yield he/she is buying into?

You can buy/sell T-bills on the secondary market through DBS, OCBC or UOB by visiting their main branches. T-bills don't pay you a yield, they are bought at a discount from face value. www.mas.gov.sg/bonds-and-bills/investing-in-singapore-government-securities/Buy-and-Sell-SGS-on-the-Secondary-Market

Keep biding low or don't bid at all, will of course end up getting low yield. Simple demand and supply principle, yet many people don't understand. The new comers have now caused T-bills yield to be lower than fixed deposit. What's the point of biding 4% when fixed deposit rates from RHB and CIMB are already at 4.1 and 4.2 respectively. You might as well stick to fixed deposits and leave T-bills to those who want to make higher returns. Only when all of us bid higher then the yield will be high.

Thank you for sharing the comparison! One random observation I got last week: My wife and I walked past UOB bank and realised there was a long queue (same for DBS) and saw notices saying queues were for Fixed Deposit and that they had to suspend the queue at that point due to too many people. Lots of ??? Popped up in our mind. I have a couple of questions regards REITS and dividend shares, as compared to SSB/SGS etc. For REITS, yield could be 4-5% (in my impression) already and there’s also likelihood of capital gains. Likewise for dividend based shares like DBS for example- volatility is not too high and yield is pretty solid. In comparison wouldnt you say these would be better for more optimisation of course investment for the “not super conservative” folks?

Thanks for sharing, Lester! Yes, you should invest according to your risk profile and investment goals. If you're looking for a higher yield and comfortable with the slight price volatility in REITs and dividend stocks, then you can consider them for investment.
