@@Joe-of1ob Yes, the history behind it, at the time it was like a fairytale as SSW FINALLY managed to beat SSB and at the perfect time too, on the biggest stage. I remember watching this and really not being sure because somehow SSB seemed to be their kryptonite...and it also was perhaps the only time SSW well and truly went all out, they trolled so much but in this series we saw what happened when they were serious and gave it everything. It was incredible to witness this, they seemed like gods.

Rewarching in 2023 and man, what a beautiful series. Still one of the top 5 best bo5 series in Worlds League history. The two sister-teams fighting each other, Spirit and DanDy relationship, Dade passing his captain jacket to PawN, Imp and Deft brotherhood, and Mata being the absolute mastermind and MVP of the whole tournament, such a wonderful match. I hope Gen.G, the sucessor legacy team from Samsung, make this again on a international stage, moments like this is just superior, like Faker's winning his 4th trophy.

Ahhh season 4. The good days before LEAGUE OF TANKS started. Very few tanks in this match led to some really exciting, fast-paced stuff.

***** Idk about you but I remember building bruiser on Renekton and Trundle back in the day. Or at least it was relatively fun to do so to wreck others with more damage based builds. Nowadays the enemy top laner just builds Funfire, Visage, and maybe Iceborn and just forcefully drags the game to 45 mins because very few can stop them after a certain item point. So most top laners just end up building full tank and dragging on to end game. Point is from my point of view a once diverse and varied role has turned into a wet noodle party that is boring and uninteresting to watch. Farm, get tanky, get late game, win...

it's kinda sad that not many ppl appreciate the high level team fights SSW is putting out rather than blue misplaying it. They were outplaying them hard guys but they happened so so fast holy shit. The twitch baits and escapes, the janna zoning and clutch saves, jayce's monster focus, same with akali's usage and the constant aggression from Rengar was unreal. Haven't seen anything close to this caliber even from the OMG vs SHR semis.

@@willho4202 Frankly, SSB never truly adapted worlds meta that year. They were showing that sign since day 1. They were still trying to play their old late game teamfight strategy and not improve their early game, while 2014 worlds is all about early game. In OGN spring and summer, SSW played against SSB twice and in every single game, SSW managed to get a huge lead early game but SSB somehow finds a way to stall until late game but always fail to finish with that lead properly because their late game isn't as good as SSB. In the 2 series they played, it was back to back 3:1, and the two games SSW won are both because their lead in early game is too huge to overcome. That in someway already foreshadowed had SSB been put in a meta that's not favorable for their late game comp, they would likely choke.

This is why Worlds in 2014 and 2015 is so much better than recent years. Like, whipping out Akali in a game like this AND making it work AND making it dominate is exactly what drives the crowd crazy. The teams today need to grow a pair or strap on a pair and make the games fun to watch, because honestly, the MSI/Worlds games in the last few years have been terribly boring.

@@laisensei6984 It's doing things that make the crowd go "WOW." Style, unpredictable, just in general fun to watch, not necessarily fights, but outplaying the enemy with style. Not just surprise picks, but literally "wow" picks. Like Looper picking up Akali here. Dandy's prince of thieves steals. Imp had two pentakills in 2014 Worlds. Faker's Olaf vs Irelia in 2015. Like things people will remember and look back and still be amazed. It's not just MSI and Worlds really, even regions individually. Remember when Faker created that epic clip of winning in a Zed vs Zed against Ryu in OGN? Honestly, what interesting and memorable plays have there been in the last few years? Solo kills and team fight wins are like "nice" but it doesn't wow you. It doesn't put a smile to your face, even if it's a region you support.

@@DanteLovesPizza Distance is subjective? His team was already going to back off and then TheShy went in to deal the AOE all on his own. Otherwise his team would never have turned around. These words honestly sound like they are from some very opinionated people whose understanding of the game is obsolete. It's been 10 years and pretty much all of the playmaking potential and strategy have been discovered and practiced. There's honestly very little room to develop even further other than making adptations to the change of metas. I don't know why there's always someone like you who jumps out and say the international tournament of LOL is less interesting than before. There are still unpredictable plays and "WOW" moments. Dozens of them. It's just that LCK used to be the ones delivering them, and now it's LPL and sometimes LEC. And frankly teamfighting in pro league has never been more exciting this year because you have no idea how it will turn out. Watch the MSI final this year between RNG and DK. If that doesn't convince you, it's either because you are too blind to see the development of playmaking, or too prejudiced to admit it.

In the patch they are playing on (4.14), Alistar can still put in an autoattack as he knocksup an enemy. Further more he provides excellent sustain with his Roar and excellent CC with his Headbutt/Pulverise. He is already decently tanky, and to add on to that, his ult (Unbreakable Will) provides damage reduction, further increasing his tankiness. So he is tanky, has decent CC and can sustain well in lane. Quite a strong pick.
