So real talk here My nerfs to Steve would be this: 1) Minecart CANNOT grab you. PERIOD. 2) Steve cannot place blocks outside of where the stage is (off ledge). It stops Steve from ledge stalling AND from gimping recoveries. 3) Blocks break INSTANTLY if someone flies into them from being hit (keeps Steve from surviving WAY longer than intended. 4) Anvil costs double iron.

You know all the Steves will just cry foul with *any* nerf, but we learned from ending the Bayo automatic ladder wins that the game and the competition improves when you delete cheese, rather than encouraging it for the sake of advertising.

I feel like Rosa's recovery and lightness are the main reasons Steve wins the MU. If she tries to directly grab the ledge, she gets blocked. If she tries to recover above ledge, she gets fsmashed. If she delays, she could just die to an anvil or get dtilted by trying to hug the stage. And if she does somehow make it back, she'd better have Luma to Lunar Land. Otherwise, she's wide open to attack. And even if she does have Luma, Steve could still trade or Minecart, so Lunar Landing doesn't even guarantee safety. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like Olimar would do better against Steve, despite Rosa having down B. Rosa's also just too light, tall, and floaty, so any kind of lead (unless it's like 3 stocks to 1 or something) that Rosa has can easily be destroyed. Platforms make landing better for Rosa, but at the same time, she can get sharked. Meanwhile, most Steves would probably ban tri-plats, so recovering to the top platform is not even on the table. Even if Rosa doesn't struggle to recover, her weight and floatiness just aren't worth the risk of losing Luma because then you either have to deal with Steve as base Rosa or let him Mine, which he was already going to do anyway.

@@leopicaso843 If you reread my comment, I did in fact say that I could be wrong about Olimar being better, so idk why you're making such a big deal about it. Either way, I'm going to explain how Olimar could possibly be better than Rosa in the Steve MU (keep in mind, this is all just theory-crafting): While Olimar has to break the walls with his aerials, and is less safe doing so, both Rosa and Olimar will eventually have to approach Steve. The thing is that Olimar is less likely to get hit while doing so. Another thing is just that Olimar can also farm for better Pikmin if Steve is going to farm for resources. Rosa can break walls with Luma, but it puts her in a position where she could easily lose Luma, which is basically risking your gameplan because you could lose your character's biggest strength. While Olimar has more trouble getting things started, he's at least explosive once he gets the hit, unlike Rosa. Ult is a punish-heavy game. Rosa can struggle to kill, especially if she's losing Luma all the time. Olimar doesn't really have that problem, and can rack up damage faster. He also at least has kill throws with the blue Pikmin, whereas Rosa doesn't, which is why we kept seeing Acola living to almost 200% and killing Dabuz out of shield all the time. In short, Rosa will probably have to interact with Steve more than Olimar, which means that she's going to get hit more. And this isn't even taking into account that she's bigger and floatier despite being almost as light.

one small correction: rosalina can recover from below. if she recovers in a way that she hits the border of the stage, she will grab the ledge no matter which block is infront. dabuz either didnt know about this or knew about it but did it wrong all the time, you can see that he kept hitting the corner of the blocks and that stopped his momentum.

There really *AREN'T* a lot of people who play him compared to Sm4sh Bayo who plagued every tournament with a stupidly high ratio of players just stealing games with cookie cutter easy bake combos. Sm4sh tournament organizers and top players failed the community by not banning her immediately. She decimated the game and we saw that materialize w/ Cpt Zack vs Lima. What a complete failure of a community. Steve isn't anywhere close to Bayonetta. The low skill floor of Bayo+high impact on seeding ruined local brackets. In the hands of good players, they could take out the indisputable best player with nearly 30-40 1st place runs, see Salem vs Zero. Just to be clear, I wouldn't mind a Steve ban. But the handling of Bayo's inclusion completely ruined any faith or care I have about the smash community anymore. I go to brackets when I can and I still try to compete. But good lord. It's just not even close to the same thing.

He wouldn't have even been in Winners Finals if his character didn't have the busted ability to put blocks in mid air and fundamentally change the layout of the stage (Neo lost an entire stock just getting one recovery walled off from above and that cost him that match even though he outplayed Steve). Last I knew many stages were banned from tourney play because of janky layouts, so why is it ok to allow a character that can just do that themselves? It's so stupid.

I think sticking with Rosa was his best choice. Acola has match up experience with olimar from Shuton, and min min experience with protobanham. Rosa was his best bet to win. It does suck about Steve though, seems like no one has a good game plan against him.

Acola's consistency is insane even considering the character he plays. Unlikely to ever be the legend that Mkleo was, but still fantastic. Really unfortunate tournament for Sparg0, he wanted to prove he's number 1 so bad. And if Steve didn't exist, he might be, but he still wouldn't be the next Mkleo either; it seems nobody does it like him. However, this underperformance doesn't justify bullying him, as many have been doing. This community is a toxic mess, it doesn't live up to how fun the game is to watch.

The best thing about smash is that even the strong is in the battleground for top placings. In which surprise falls occur. Then others rise for their shine in the spotlight. Dabuz did great and made it to Grand Finals. Acola showcasing how strong he is and taking another. There were surprise falls that fell earlier than expected in this tournament.

lmao you have not a clue why nintnedo hates the competitive side of smash, you're just throwing statements out. nintendo, from melee onward, hated the thought of competitive smash which is why they added tripping to Brawl to disincentivize it. it was never about the community or how they act. its about nintedo being over protective of their IP and forcing everyone to view and use their products to their strict outline. they don't see the positives in helping and nurturing a FGC. they do this with ALL their series. some comments go too far I completely agree. Most spectators of competitive Smash want to watch and celebrate high SKILL gameplay. They want to watch the MOST SKILLED player on a given day overcome their opponents. Steve isn’t that. Not even when piloted by Acola. We’re watching him be carried to victory over more skilled players over and over again. We’re watching him run at people and mash his absurdly safe options repeatedly until his opponents eventually make mistakes. Of course people are going to be annoyed by that. And they have just as much right to voice how they feel as anyone else. It is what it is.

It's not even a counter honestly. So minecart gets reflected? It just goes in the opposite direction and Steve can just jump out with zero danger whatsoever. All you're doing is making sure minecart doesn't hit you in that scenario. It doesn't present any danger to the Steve.
