Tbh DS2 (cant speak for 1 as i havent played it) is a pretty solid game with a concept that imo holds up even now. Sure the combat is fairly simplistic, but its the tactics of controlling up to 8 characters and the strategy of how you develop them, that really shine. Plus the game is definitely hard without being unforgiving.

DS2 was my fucking jam as a kid. I was a Diablo 2 fanatic and was looking for something else to scratch the itch, and DS2 was it. There is a shit ton of build diversity and gear sets for really wacky builds. Have you ever wanted to strap a brick of c4 to your 800 lb. pet spider on 2/26/93? You can do that. Ever want to show off your William Tell impression, only instead of an apple it is an entire tribe of Dryads, and instead of using a bow, it is a Barrett M82? You can do that. Great game, and it has a fully fleshed out secrets system akin to Wolfenstein.

I used to love this game and thought it was a fever for the longest time! Dizzy isn't famous at all in Brazil, so I managed to play some of his games when I was a kid in the 90's and never again. Thanks ever so much for the video!

Extremely late comment that nobody will read, but there's a great way to completely break the balancing in Dungeon Siege 2. The game revolves around having a party of characters with specific roles, however experience is shared between all the characters in the party. Meaning if you actually just play with only one character in the party, you'll have a much, much easier time with most of the harder fights in the game because you'll be significantly overleveled for them. To make matters worse, the game also had the ability to have pets as party members, which you could feed items to and grow and improve their stats according to what you fed them. Because feeding replaced the normal leveling system for characters, they did not use XP and thus did not take a cut of the total party XP. The end result is your own character is beefed to hell and back, and you have an overabundance of high powered gear you can just shove down your donkey's gullet and create the most unstoppable duo the world has ever seen. I was so high level as a melee character reaching Valdis for the first time that my Brutal Attack was doing about a quarter of his health per hit and recharged almost instantaneously, and my donkey had a health pool with a few more digits in it than was probably necessary. It was incredibly stupid.

12:15 at this point that is the meta way to play it. I also had a main character who was a mage. I discovered tanks don't matter and so I gave my main character 100% damage reflect, since the game had decided he was the tank. The dragon also fireballed itself to death.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that 56 years ago Israeli planes openly attacked the USS Liberty during Israel's war with Egypt. The attack led to the death of 34 American sailors. When the fleet commander heard of the attack he scrambled fighters. However, immediately afterwards he was told by the White House to stand down and leave the Liberty to its fate. The captain of the Liberty, frustrated by his inability to protect his crew, cleverly began broadcasting on open channels that US fighters were coming. The moment he did this the Israeli aircraft ceased their attack and apologised saying that they had mistaken a ship flying a US flag and with USS Liberty written on it for an Egyptian ship. There are two possible explanations for why this event took place. Both could be equally valid. The first is that Israel was committing a war crime in the mass execution of POW's and thought that the Liberty (a surveillance ship) could have witnessed it. The second is that the attack on the Liberty was a calculated move that the Israelis planned to later blame on the Egyptians in order to bring the US into a war that Israel had instigated. We will likely never know whether either or both of these explanations are true as Washington consistently blocks all attempts at investigation. It speaks volumes that 56 years ago Israel had enough influence on the US to force them to allow an open attack to go unanswered. One wonders how much more control they have gained in the years since...
