Thank you very much for this Vidéo. I figured out that the MOSFET were burnt. So I changed it but it burned and burned again each time. With you video, I discovered the issue of solder joints. So I cleaned them up, put solder points again, and new screws. No more problem then for me. Another piece of information that could be useful for everyone: I had some 0 ohms resistors that also burned. So I had to change them. These resistants supplys the GND and 24 volts for the MOSFET. So I reckon it is because of the MOSFET blow out. Hope it can help and thank you again for the video.

You can lift the black plastic retainer that the inverter plugs into that also has the connections for the CCFL bulbs inside, I do it all the time to test CCFL bulbs when I think one is bad. Simply remove the screws, raise it up gently and use a prop, and use a CCFL tester to light the bulbs individually. This allows you to easily check individual bulbs without taking the entire tv apart. This exact inverter board is used in a lot of tvs apparently, saw the same one about a month ago in Toshiba I was working on. It was a failed bulb though, not the mosfets. I was going to attempt to just bypass one of the bulbs, but you can't on these because as you said, 4 bulbs are driven by one transformer. I could have pulled one pin off that main IC to ground but that would have bypassed the entire feedback/protection circuit. Strange design I think they used just to cut costs.

I'm working on one of these inverters atm, 3 of the mosfets were shorted, and when I replaced them and turned it on, they shorted out again after a few seconds, the 3 nearest the small transformer coil, q307, q308 and q309, do you have any idea why this would happen, could it be that a faulty bulb would somehow feed back into the fets? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you

I did this repair with a kit from Shop Jimmy. It lasted a few months then it started to go dim again. Wish i knew about this video i would have went over it again checking solder joints.
@MrReeceyburger1238 жыл бұрын
Ahh no, guess that the solder joints do cause the blow outs then.

We all used to moan about this stuff, and how crappy it all was, then LED backlight sets came along and all us TV repair guys virtually went out of business within two years, for a while I was repairing the LED sets but when every single set came in with exactly the same shorted leds and buggered psu in some cases, we lost the battle....

great video, i have a problem with the same board thanks to your video i found the fets at the bottom have blown last 4 and lower fuse, do i still need to change the SEM2107 controller IC?. will be ordering parts this weekend.

Hi mate. If the 3 fets are in parallel, is there any chance one or two might be OK? As you said, all 3 will show as shorted, but they of course will do if only 1 has shorted. Just wondered if once taken out of circuit you'd ever tested some OK.

About the grounding-points round the set-screws.... Best remove ALL the solder with braid leaving them bright clean and tinned only. You Do Not want to apply 'blobs' of solder on each pad, Leave them bare, just bright and tinned. Reasoning being--Solder is a soft material. cooling/heating of board will make the solder layer deform to the point that the screws become loose and a poor connection, result--arcing and destruction again....! --Ali (BC)

I was wondering if you could help me out. I have nec p401 monitor which also has this inverter. Something started to trigger protection, after disassembly i've noticed while powering on there is an arc on one of the inverter to bulb connectors. I took off the black panel that sits above the cathodes which you said not to remove and 2-3 sockets were more or less burned. Would you be able to tell me what is is the fault? I've metered components like you did and they seem to be fine. Thanks in advance.

Hello MrReeceyburger12, I would like to know if you can help me, I have a Samsung LCD TV Series 3 Model LN32A330J1. It has 12 Transformers and 12 Mosfet 4614, similar to 40014A01. The fuse of the inverter card was damaged, and also the third moset from the bottom up. There is a possibility that I can eliminate that simply mosfet and also that lamp. I think that only 1 lamp of the 12 will not influence the lighting so much. Thanks in advance with the help you can give me
